Once I got the gist of the conversation I skipped past it to you just working with the dog. I can identify with how you relate to the dogs, some of it's funny but also heart warming.
@paulanull87313 жыл бұрын
Periodically he wags his tail, especially when you are working on his front and holding ie hugging him. So cute and funny. I think, IMO, that if the dad brought him in for a brushing and bath mid grooming need it might help him adjust.
Such a cutie. He was testing you. lol. The one moment he turned around to try something and you told him NO, he turned back around and stopped. I laughed so hard! I think he realized after a while you were not putting up with his nonsense. Good job!

I think a lot of people are afraid to be FIRM with dogs because they're either being too hard on them or hurting their feelings. But in reality, being firm with dogs is what they need. My dad lets his dog pull him around when he walks him and he acts a fool...I take him out and don't even let the leash out and he walks right next to me the entire time without pulling, etc. cause he knows he's not going to get away with it with me. As long as you're not hurting them, being firm is a good thing! They need that direction, it's healthy for them!

You are persistent, kind, & let him know you are in charge to get the job done. He does look over wt. If he lost 3-4 lbs. Would make such a difference in how he feels & behaves in certain situations, like grooming. He is SOOO cute 😍 & Teddy is a great name for him! Less food, & I found with my 14 yr. old, that shorter, more frequent walks worked best when he didn't seem to do one or 2 longer walks very well, at least til he lost a little wt. (For him 2 lbs.) Great job 👏 Dede! You have so much patience & perseverance. ❤

My cat used to be a little shakey in the bath. He is not afraid of water, he just shakes. Then one day I started singing the Dory song and he stops shaking. I think singing helps calm them. Now whenever he bathes he sits there waiting for the song, “Just keep swimming… just keep swimming”.

Proper excercise for your dog. According to their breed/needs. Is sometimes key to getting rid of anxiety,, bad behavior, misplaced energy. I think his weight also plays a part. In his quality of life/comfort. I find for a dog his size. He's carrying more weight. Which I'm sure put pressure on his back. No shade intended to the dog/owner. Just an observation. Whatever Teddy issues. He's blessed to have you as his groomer. Hang in there teddy!!

People just do not realize how much damage a bad groomer can do to a dogs mental health. I have seen dogs that have been so traumatized by bad grooming experiences. I tell people if your dog is happy to go to your current groomer stick with them, do not change unless you absolutely have to because you never know what type of groomer the next one will be. On the same note if your dog seems to be getting worse it is a good sign something is not right at the groomer and it is time to change.
