I... No, WE as Dog Dad's who just lost one of our cherished fur babies, and have another woof with separation anxiety... These videos help a lot when we're unable to come home and check in on him. deSade, our 13 year old, really watches and interacts, so he's not alone. We cannot thank you enough for giving our old guy company during the day here in Michigan. Much ❤ to you guys for this and the work you do.

Sorry you lost your fur baby. Glad your 13 year old and separation anxiety sufferer enjoy these videos! Stories like this will help me make a case to dog experts about the benefits of these videos.

Doggie Daycare is not stupid at all..in fact its a brilliant idea! The real.wunner here is the dog. I wouldnt want to put my beloved sidekick in there five days a week, maybe twice. My dog is also a watchdog, even though shes small.

Thanks! Just so everyone knows, the actual dogs in the video are not dogs from home, they're animal shelter dogs (strays, abuse/neglect/hoarding cases, dogs surrendered by their owners). They spend almost their entire time in a small kennel. Volunteers try to walk them every day, but there's so much overcrowding now that it's often every other day. Some of them get to attend these dog playgroups which is beneficial for even the frightened dogs. What I like about these videos is that everyone wins. I use the footage from these videos to create adoption videos for some of the dogs for their adoption web page and to play in the shelter lobby, so it helps them get adopted. The videos generate a *lot* of money for the shelter, so that also helps the dogs. Dogs at home get to watch these videos which helps them with separation anxiety, socialization skills, and overall enrichment.

@@DogPlaygroupStories I'm glad to hear that they still enjoy it as well. Btw, will you guys continue to have the live stream? Idk if that was just an experiment or not.
@DogPlaygroupStories
@DogPlaygroupStories 10 ай бұрын
It was kind of a preliminary experiment. It was supposed to show up very high on the search algorithm, but almost all the viewers were regulars, not people searching. The quality was low, but supposedly it should allow people to stay connected for as many hours as they want, without getting kicked off.

@DogPlaygroupStories I know that it can be frustrating dealing with KZbin's search algorithm. I can verify from watching many doggie type KZbin videos, both live and not, that the quality is lower, but it does keep a constant connection. The highest quality I've seen with live is 1080p. It is nice not having to worry about the video stopping. So, positives and negatives.

I HAD to stop cleaning my house to give some feedback on this video. PLEASE for the love of GOD everybody stop yelling OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT OUT. I might have had a slight mental break listening to this for hours. My puppy Harley loves watching your videos while I’m busy but I swear on my life I counted about 145 OUT’s before I said ENOUGH!! Hahaha smh
@DogPlaygroupStories
@DogPlaygroupStories 10 ай бұрын
I'm starting to remove the repeated "out"s, but it'll be in the video published on January 15 and only some of the "out"s. We're supposed to say that over and over according to the top experts in shelter dog playgroups, but the problem is that our shelter has gotten a bit sloppy about enforcing "out" so we end up having to say it way too many times. As soon as dogs see that one or more dogs get away with not obeying, then it's like an avalanche of dogs at the gate. I'm just a volunteer so I can't do anything about it.

@@Umbrella_Cloud I actually meant Dog TV Daycare #25. That's the one I might do a premiere on. For learning how to do camera work and edit, I'd recommend the KZbin channels: "This Guy Edits" and "Every Frame a Painting" (start with Every Frame a Painting, and start with the video about Akira Kurosawa). I use techniques from these and other sources in my videos. One of the more interesting techniques comes from the book In the Blink of an Eye (which This Guy Edits covers well, including the Rule of 6) it says that good actors tend to blink when a particular section of their acting is done. So editors look for where the actor blinks to find good places to put a cut. I tried this with dogs and it works very well when I can't find a good cut point.

My dogs absolutely love this. If I put it on they'll lay hours and watch it. My wife asks ,”what happened to the dog named Turtle?”She watches with them lol. Apparently Turtle was a mischievous dog that was mentioned a lot in the videos, and has become our dogs name for the show. Our Bulldog whines non stop until we put on Turtle.

Turtle was adopted and then returned several times from 2021 to 2023. In early June 2023, this text was made public: "Turtle was adopted in April of 2023 and was returned June 3, 2023. His adopter said that Turtle did great with the other pets in the home until recently when he was left unsupervised with toy, he and the other dog in the home got into an altercation that resulted in both dogs being injured. Turtle will need to be crated whenever he is not supervised so that he doesn’t find himself in trouble. Turtle is a volunteer and staff favorite! Turtle is looking for placement with a rescue. If you think your home could be a good fit for Turtle, PLEASE come to PACC before 06/11/23 and ask to meet Turtle! Turtle will need to leave the shelter by 06/11/23." I don't know the details of which rescue, but he was transferred to a rescue on June 12, 2023. They'll gladly extend a deadline if someone is going to pick them up soon.

Love these videos and so does my dog. What is the adoption rate of these furbabies if I may ask. Thanks.
@DogPlaygroupStories
@DogPlaygroupStories 10 ай бұрын
The adoption/foster rate is very high compared to other shelters. The actual "live release rate" number includes dogs that come in with serious medical issues (people often dump those dogs or strays are often hit by cars). I'd say most dogs get adopted within a month or two. Certain types of dogs take a lot longer: older pit bulls, dogs with a significant bite history. The volunteers do heroic work to get those dogs adopted. The longest stay dogs are typically in the shelter for about a year. When there's severe overcrowding, the shelter applies a formula for euthanizing dogs. The staff and volunteers obviously hate when that happens. Very often dog rescues will come in at the last minute and save the dogs.

Have you ever considered harnesses over collars? It would be better for them and probably easier for you if you had to grab a leash and pull them away from one another if there were an altercation. That way their throat and neck aren’t compromised.
@DogPlaygroupStories
@DogPlaygroupStories 8 ай бұрын
We use martingale collars to protect their throats. We do use harnesses on dogs that would benefit from them when being walked, but still use martingales and drag lines in the play yard. It's all based on experience with many thousands of shelter dogs.

You guys have 3-4 adults in there. Have a hose with a good pressure nozzle that will separate them instantly if one acts up. I don’t understand why they are in a dirty dusty playpen and why their leashes are connected to them they step on them, they get caught between their toes, they wrap around their ankles, they pee on them,it doesn’t make any sense. Just hang the leashes on the fence and put a name tag on them. It’s so dusty there ,I’d never let my dogs go there.
@DogPlaygroupStories

We handle thousands of dogs, actually thousands of dogs per year. Many of them come from abuse/hoarding/neglect cases. We get a lot of strays where we know nothing about their history. At times we've needed as many as 10 people rushing into the yard, each grabbing a leash, to deal with a situation. Yes, we also use the hose, air horn, bite sticks, etc. The shelter has a lot of experience in doing what we're doing and the handlers I've talked to generally laugh when I tell them about the comments I get here about how we shouldn't have drag lines on the dogs.
