Your Fenna journey encouraged me to just go for it and adopt a dog, and I’m so glad I did! Our shelter encourages fostering so it’s low commitment but gets dogs out. Let sweet, smart, loving Fenna live indoors with her brothers. Please go that final step. You are her whole world. You guys are doing amazing! I’m so impressed with the work you all are putting in, even getting the boys involved in her training. I work at an animal shelter and I can’t tell you how often dogs get adopted and returned after only a few days before they can fully adjust and settle into their new life. Honestly the first year is quite a journey for both the dog and the humans. I’m so happy to see you all putting in the time and research to make her life as good as it can be. I would recommend putting a cover over the crate to make it more cave like, this will help her settle fast inside and reduce barking. You can use either a blanket or there are even covers designed specifically for crates that are a little heavier so she can’t pull them inside the crate with her. Don’t give up or be discouraged with the training! Consistency is key! You can tell she is super motivated to learn and she seems to pick up on commands quickly. Love y’all!

OMG Everybody is doing GREAT with Fenna! CONGRAULATIONS!Just remember that Too much unsupervised time before Fenna knows ALL of the rules is the reason you are seeing some destruction in your yard. Now that you have a larger cage/den use that as his time out area (not punitive) instead of outside alone unsupervised. Teach him to go there (leave door open) when he is too rambunctious or during mealtime. Praise him whenever he goes there on his own, don't allow the kids to bother him while he's in his peaceful place(the den).

Love all the hard work and time and new improvements you and the whole family have been doing . Great job !! The yard looks better and better keep up the great work ! The garden area has so much potential . Fenna is so adorable !! In my opinion ,, your doing awesome with her and all the things your trying to do etc . Having big working class dogs is a challenge and a learning experience with each and every dog with their personalities etc . I learned it’s mandatory to have a thick cushioned something for them to rest and sleep on , for the warmth and their bones . You want to give them the protection now so that as they age they have less joint and arthritis . So I also have a bed or pad available for them in their kennel ( which is their sanctuary ) not a punishment ! And also outside we build their cushion up off the ground to keep it from moisture , their outside bed is more of a patio piece of furniture a throne if you will . Lol Great job !

Buy a black kong (vs. red) and line the inside walls with peanut butter or ground up style wet dog foid with the back of a spoon. Put it in the freezer so it takes them much longer to get the yumminess out. Give it to them to work on when you want to redirect their attention to that vs. begging during dinner time, when cooking, etc. Works like a charm. You can eat in peace, and they never pick up the bad habit of surveiling the table and floor while your trying to eat in peace! Win/win! 😁
