Oh my gosh they could have made Eddie Murphy trying to sell the Haunted Mansion the whole premise! Various people coming in looking to buy it, ghosts scare them off in a comedic way, ghost messing with Eddie Murphy as he’s trying to fix up the house…think Mouse Hunt but with ghosts
@Mathee Жыл бұрын
And then they could have Eddie Murphy slowly bonding with the ghosts, and having the movie end with him deciding to live in the house himself
@HighlandHellboy Жыл бұрын
And then have one person who the ghosts can’t scare away, who happens to be Constance’s living “spiritual” successor. That way we can still have a reason for the ghosts and the other human characters teaming up and bonding.

Fun Fact: June Foray actually played a THIRD witch named Witch Hazel, in the 1956 Tom and Jerry cartoon The Flying Sorceress for MGM. So she played THREE different Witch Hazels for THREE different studios (Disney, Warner Bros and MGM). The name Witch Hazel was actually the name of a plant and traditional skin care medicine.

I can definitely relate to you on being scared of the Haunted Mansion, mainly because of the aging portrait of Master Gracey and also because I had read about it on Snopes's Disney section that someone actually had died on the ride (and also coincidentally they put the ashes of those who have passed away on the ride) and also the rumor about the 'Theodore' bust supposedly being Walt Disney. And the WDW explorer cd room where you could go behind the scenes, and I saw how the animatronics for the ride were made. And also if I had a nickel for every music video I saw in which people go inside a haunted mansion I would have at least more than two because it has happened more than twice (i.e Nelly and Raven's music videos for the songs for the movie, Backstreet's Back, Fat Boys 'Are You Ready For Freddy').

Awesome vid! Nice to see the marvel comics get the respect it deserves. I whish you dived deeper into the 2003 game though. It's arguably the darkest plot of all. The villain is an insane death cultist who wants to kill everyone AND destroy heaven and hell (or the Afterlife and the Afterdeath as the game calls them) so that only pure death remains. At the end of the game, he steals the crystal that powers your lantern and absorbs all 999 spirits to become a giant maggot monster. Zeke crams Madame Leota into the lantern to power it again and fight the monster as he clamis "there is still room for at least ONE MORE!" Also the game does the "ghosts are free to go to heaven but most stay behind" ending the movie should have done. Also also the Game boy advance game has a completely different plot from both the console version and the movie.

BTW....I highly disagree with your opinion on the 2003 video game. IMO, it is the best video game adaptation!! If you were spamming the fire button on large spiders, you skipped past Leota's "under 1 minute" explanation about how your new soul gem 💎 power worked. I replay this game on my PS2/Gamecube annually, so it's far from unenjoyable!! Also, interacting with the friendly ghosts after completing each room yielded some genuinely comical dialogue: -he ghost auntie who made your favorite...cheesy toadwart casserole -the Captain ghost who didn't understand why he was killed in a mutiny despite asserting that less than 50% of the treasure was half -the king ghost that tells you that your princess is in another castle -the one duelist ghost who, when referring to Atticus Thorne, said he could "smell his beady little eyes" -the band member's that all agreed that they need "more cowbell" -each of the Hitchiking Ghosts in a separate room trying to hitch a ride (each with actual dialogue) Just...wonderful dialogue!!! Atticus Thorne, the main antagonist...easily the best character created only for a game adaptation of the mansion!!!
