In 1967 I rode Pirates at age 12, sitting in the right-most end. Just before the "Dead men tell no tales" skull, an arm lunged out at me from behind a columned part of the wall; it had a costume arm-piece, hairy, almost like a gorilla arm but not quite; I was scared out of my wits because it was so sudden. The following year I rode Pirates again, and was ready for it this time. But when I got to the spot where it happened, there was nothing there where an arm could have come out from! THAT was unnerving.

28:48 I would LOVE it if Disney brought back the whole "having live actors in rides" shtick, but It does sadden me that it might never happen ever again cause from what I've seen & heard people seem pretty mixed on the live pirates at Florida's POTC, Some said they liked it while most said it was overhyped and disappointing. (I personally agree with both sides). And just like what Ian said in the video The liability at places like Disney is always changing and it has to be hard for them to constantly update stuff. That and we live in a world where people are so glued to they iPhones and iPads and are insensitive to everything.
@gabrielledijames90826 жыл бұрын
Id be more worried about my actors getting hurt. At halloween horror nights the scare actors get stuff thrown at them and punched all the time.
@Robb19772 жыл бұрын
The problem is many of these rides weren't built to accommodate that (often just the opposite) so live actors don't work long term, but can be a cool novelty for a special event to heighten the magic for people who are likely to repeat customers. Compared to something like the great movie ride which was designed around live actors and that was great!

I have a quick question regarding the cast member talking about the Phantom of the Opera. He stated that there was a Phantom of the Opera film from 1984, but there was no Phantom film from that year. Did he mean to say the 1989 movie starring Robert Englund? If so I can understand him mixing up the dates since A Nightmare on Elm Street came out in 1984, and both films starred Robert Englund. Plus, seeing as he said the Phantom didn't have his mask, it would make a lot of sense if he was speaking of the '89 film. In that film the Phantom/Erik doesn't wear a mask, he kills and skins people and sews their skin onto his own face to cover the disfiguration. I'm very curious to know if that is the case. Also, Lon Chaney didn't play Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, that was Fredric March (that film came out 2 years after Chaney's death). Based off of the character description, I'm fairly certain that the character he is referring to is Professor Edward C. Burke from London After Midnight (1927).
@opinian10686 жыл бұрын
I meant the premiere of the Broadway show. Oops!
@nickrustyson81246 жыл бұрын
Speaking of Nightmare On Elm Street and 1989, one of my favorite films Shocker was made by the same director of Nightmare On Elm Street Wes Craven and it really shows because that villain of that film is basically Electric Freddy Kruger.
@WorldCupWillie4 жыл бұрын
The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical debut was in London in 1986. It came to Broadway in 88.
@cuervojones48893 жыл бұрын
I believe the Lon Cheney movie they are referring to is "London After Midnight". If you look it up on IMDB, you see the picture of Cheney in the top hat with the wild hair, dark eyes and pointed teeth. It was considered a "lost" film for years but I believe it's been restored.

I was around 5 when this happened, but I remember seeing someone in Victorian clothing when we went tot he haunted mansion in Florida, I stared at him thinking he was maybe a cast member sitting in the buggy behind us. But when it came to the end and we got out He wasn’t there anymore. Now again I’m not sure if it was a cast member or not, or it could’ve been my imagination. But, it still stuck with me until I found your video on ghosts in disney. He did have a cane. so coincidence? Or was it spooky?

@Stefan Sharak Thank you for your statement! I would be happy to tackle this mystery. The truth is, I’ve already solved it. Did you watch part one of this? In part one it explains that on the ride in Walt Disney World, a man in Victorian Clothing appears on the ride, but disappears before he had a chance to get off. No one ever seems him get on either. He is mostly set apart from other apparitions, like the one I saw, but ask a Cast Member at the Haunted Mansion about “The Man with a Cane” and you’ll get your answer. I believe you and your story, because you are not alone in seeing this man. Thank you for sharing.

I remember the Knight. For years I wondered if that was always part of the attraction or I imagined it because I live in San Francisco and would only go to Disneyland maybe once every summer or other summer. The first time I went was like 1975 and I was only 4 so I had this impression that the Haunted Mansion was spooky since that time. Now I was older in 1983, of course, but it was because I didn't expect the Living Knight to jump out and my Dad laughing uncontrollably at me that it made me think maybe it was the animatronic knight move out of the corner of my eye that made me jump. If it wasn't for the Internet I would have never have known it was an actual person in the costume.

One time I went to the haunted Mansion in Florida, we got stuck in the attic scene; right in front of the ghost bride ( the one with the hatchet). As we watched her repeat her lines over and over, I began to notice another sound in the room. A quiet thumping. The minutes slowed down. I began having a feeling of unease. I don’t know if it was me or the bride but the thumping started to grow louder; beating like a heart. I was breathing harder. I started to sweat. I was getting louder and faster; as if it’s body was running, fueled with adrenaline. I started panicking. I closed up in a ball, covering my ears to block out the noise. But it kept growing louder and louder. It sounded like the bride was right next to me, her wild heart racing as she was about to strike. I cried out “ Please let us go!”. Suddenly, the doom buggies jolted and we left the scene. I breathed a sigh of relief. The thumping stopped and everything seemed fine. But I swear, as I left the scene, the bride looked directly at me with a smirk on her face
