This is absolutely the best dog we’ve ever had!! He is so intelligent, loyal, loving & yes he is very protective!! We have had him in intense training for protection as he began getting very protective on his own around 8 months of age & had never shown aggression prior to this. So we decided to let him excel in what he was born to do even though he is a wonderful pet & indoor dog. He has never destroyed furniture or been destructive in any way ……I wouldn’t call him “low drive” by any means, however he loves his naps & he is always on guard when we are out & among other people & animals. There is no end to what these dogs can learn & they are so very eager to learn & to please !!!

I just saw the movie, John Wick 3, and in that movie were two of the baddest malinois dogs! They were truly magnificent and the stunts incredible. Trust me, you want them on YOUR side.

Maligators are fantastic breed of dog, super smart, I dont know why everybody always say they dont play well with other dogs or strangers to the family and are considered "serious".... Dont get me wrong they can certainly be fierce and fuck shit up when duty calls but mine is really super goofy most of the time, much more so than the shepherd I had previously.. They are crazy high energy, require good training, socialization, and lots of activity to keep them busy and happy... They are protective but in a very intelligent way... Mine will play friendly with all other dogs, has no food aggression or jealousy issues.. Really this breed has proven to be a perfect family dog for us and I feel a hell of a lot safer with him in the house than I ever would with a gun.... Just be prepared to work with em....

I have one but his ears are kinda bent down. Im guessing the last owner use to use him as a fighting dog or use ro beat him a lot. He has scars in many places of his body. But he is very aggressive. I for him some months ago and he is already a full grown adult. Took him a little while to get use to me. He tried beung dominant over me but i stood my ground. No hwll car like a puppy every time i come out side. And he's a big time cuddled at night as i out hin n my other dogs in my room for mimis (baby talk aka sleep) he is very protected over my other two dogs. Love my dogs. My babies

Their adulthood is four years, rather than the two years of most breeds. Only people who are very experienced with aggressive breeds should have a Belgian Malinois. You have to be very consistent with this breed, as they do learn very quickly what they can and can't get away with, just like a child. Inconsistency with this breed can lead to aggressive and dangerous behavior. They are not the breed for people whose idea of discipline is hitting. They will turn on you. Because so many people use hitting, not understanding that about this breed, way too many have wound up in shelters, and put down. Training is a lifetime, as they love learning, and learn very quickly. A well trained and well disciplined Belgian Malinois should very rarely have to be disciplined beyond four years, if ever, at all. PLEASE DO your research about the breed before getting a Belgian Malinois. They shouldn't have to be put down just because someone inexperienced thinks it will be cool to have one. Check with rescue groups before breeders.

@@Rhys-qn3ld for a Belgian Malinois that's a really good thing. You're reaping the positive huge blessings and benefits from supposed "fail". Some of us have to work tirelessly to train and tame them on when and when not to use that aggression. I trained my Hachi for being my service dog, when I serendipitously discovered that he was warning me of oncoming seizures. But, despite how well trained he is, when we are in public, I put a prong choke collar on him, just in case. Because they're so good at seemingly reading people's minds, or especially of picking up on bad people, I'm not taking any chances. There've been a few males who, in spite on my warning them, will persist in approaching me. And, it never ends well for them. Some people are stupidly determined to wreak havoc. Yours if further proof that "one man's junk is another man's treasure". Bask in your wonderful fortune. ❤

My family are very inexperienced with dogs. We never had any pets before. When my mom had a boyfriend, we adopted a puppy about to be slaughtered and eaten. We never knew what breed our puppy is. 2 years later, we found out that our dog is actually a Belgian Malinois, which explains the hyper, stubborn and active characteristic of our dog. The only problem is we live in a small apartment and she gets few exercise.
