I have a Scottish terrier and he’s the best dog we’ve ever had, I love him to bits, he rarely ever barks (unless he sees a cat or something), he is extremely obedient, and very easy to train, he loves a good rub but it’s definitely not a needy dog, he does not need very long walks, he’s very calm (and bare in mind he’s not neutered) he knows so many tricks and loves to play with his tennis ball... perfect dog honestly, you won’t be disappointed if you decide to adopt a Scottish terrier
@brettbasil6 жыл бұрын
Agree agree agree..my boy was easy to train and he seem's to want to please. They have a very negative reputation for the determination but I so disagree. It is a personality. Heck our Scotty is the first dog I've even know to have a very social personality. This is almost the same as having a You Tube celeb on a leash that's cute and adorable who mind's....honestly he's the best part of the day. Don't buy into that negative side because as patricia said-you won't be disappointed in choosing to have a Scottish terrier as a pet

I have had 3 Scotties.The first one was timid and never aggressive .She got along very well with my other dogs ( malti-poo,and bichon poo) The 2nd had the same personality as the first The 3rd loved all people but was jealous of the other dog and although they got along when the Scottie was a pup she became aggressive toward the other dog as she got older.They eventually had to be kept in separate parts of the home and away from each other.

I'm another Scots person, for past 40 years, be aware though all breeds, or combos even, but once a Scots, you'll be in their paws and they will be in your heart 4ever. The absolute best at giving the "don't care" vibeever. Although they really do.

My Scotty was attacked twice when he was younger (now 2yrs old) and got very aggressive towards other male dogs that are bigger than him. Any advice as a breeder?

I have a Scottie named Maya. Independent and loyal. I'm much more of a needy dog owner than she is as a pet(I just love petting that thick fur of hers). Scottie's stare are very charming, as are the running and jumping around they do(so cute). Love that lil princess, Maya

I've had six Scotties, along with Labs. As much as I adore Labs, Scotties are easier to manage in size & shedding. They are sweet & loyal to their owners, and also observant, smart & independent. They can be very cat-like: preferring high perches, take you or leave you at times, stare at you. They also travel well, adapt to your routines and are foodies.

Annette Murphy Cool we also have two scotties The female (6) is very calm lately, maybe because of the new scottie pup (4 months) he is very energetic! He also looks at you and then jumps at your face to lick you. They are really funny, the little one learnt to go upstairs at 2 months old!

I have a Scottie, and hes very independent. I'm pretty sure they have some herder skill, cuz he send my pitbull to her cage with ease. He's super barky, but never bites.

I have a scottie and she's super independent and funny. I love to make fun of how unaffectionate she is. She even removes her head from my hand when she doesn't feel like being petted. But every now and then she comes over and asks for cuddles that last 15 seconds. She's a great dog, though. Corky, funny and super smart.

I am researching dog breeds to find a family companion for my husband and I, along with our two young children that fits our lifestyle. I keep getting mixed reviews on how the Scottie is with children. Can anyone who owns a Scottie kindly let me know what their experience has been? I know that socialization is very important. Along with making sure that our children respect our new companion. Could you maybe tell me what a normal day looks like with a Scottie. Sorry for all of the questions. I just want to set both my family and our next companion up for success. Thank you!

How about adopting an older dog who's behavior you already know to be child-friendly?! No breeding can guarantee personality in dogs.

MIZIUPA I have had 3 scotties ( not at the same time) 2 were great with other dogs but one did not like other animals in the home.She was jealous and wanted all of the attention and was very aggressive to my other dog at the time.To the point where they needed to be separated in the house.I don’t know why she was so different from the other 2 Scotties I had.Well the bright side was they all loved people.

My scottie barks a LOT at strangers, is super friendly to people, but since out previous dog passed away, we couldn't exactly socialize her when she was a puppy, and couldn't afford to care for another dog, as we too have cats, but she is an energy ball, and a very smart dog. I can't tell you she always uses her intelligence for good, though, but apparently her brother is the exact opposite hahaha, the owner tells me he is reserved, and oh, so many wonders. We did have a hard time with her discipline as a puppy, but she's getting there
