Dogs first day home from the shelter 🥰🐶

I brought Addison home from the shelter today 💜 She explored the house & the yard, she was obsessed with our bird, Lee, & she played with Lexie and Callie a little bit!.

MINE , TOO.......six "roadies" live with me...[picked up off country roads in rural E.Tx].......bad situation for them in the heat...coyotes, hogs, snakes, mountain lions in some areas.....RESCUES are so grateful.......

I brought home one year old Ginger Rogers from the shelter this past Thursday, We are on day four. It's been quite a challenge because she had such few expereinces previous to us. She could not get up and out of the car, she has never gone up stairs or over a wooden bridge or walkway. But she achieved those now. She and I have bonded and she is sleeping through the night brautifully due to HOURS and HOURS of daily exercise. Its a challense and a risk...but risks often come with great rewards!

@Syd Barger I didn’t know that was going on. That really breaks my heart. They need to screen people better and make sure they’re going to be taken care of. I knew that a lot of people fostered animals during covid and that’s great but not if you’re gonna give them to just anyone 🙁😢🤧

She felt instantly better you could see when she met her fur sisters. And while she seemed a little apprehensive with her new male owner she was super excited with the granddaughter. Either cause it was later in the day or because she has had negative experiences with men in the past.

When we first adopted my cocker spaniel she was so scared she shook all the way home from the shelter, when we got her home we took her for a walk around the neighborhood, then up to the house when I took the leash off she ran around the house at top speed, until she spotted our ratty old couch, she jumped up on it, looked around with a happy expression, then looked at us like hey! I'm going to like it here! From that moment she was home!

I don't know anything about your feathered baby except that I saw he has a very small cage.. plz remember that birds need a lot of out of cage time and toys and quality time with you as well.. he needs a much bigger cage than that. I personally think birds should only sleep in a comfortable cage at night for their own safety and should have play stands around the house and a room where they can play freely without the dogs..just a little advice:) All the best!

True, that cage is way too small for a Lovebird (could barely see him, but I think that's what he was)! If he's not let out, it's comparable to keeping a dog in a bedroom all its life - and you wouldn't do that, would you?.
