Dogs of the Transkei (full length)

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated” - Mahatma Ghandi. Through narration and interviews with Edith Gallant (AfriCanis Society), Richard Norton (TAWI) and others, this short film introduces the Land Race “AfriCanis”, describing why these indigenous Dogs are so uniquely special. Although a little out of date now (2010), it also explains the role TAWI plays in trying to improve the health and lives of Transkei Dogs.

Evening, I think this African dog breed need a special preservation and improvement where necessary, if it was a native European or American native dog, we would be paying huge amount of euros or dollars for it, if we had to import it. Just do some internet research about this dog breed but I'm sure you have come across them many times they're intelligent as well and they have other attributes that are far better to some other breeds.

Africanis dogs are underrated in Matebeleland they are used as livestock guards to protect goats from leopards and baboons and they are very social when you train them well

Trans is English meaning on the other side of or beyond and Kei is the name for the a river in the eastern cape

simply Transkei was a name given to a xhosa Bantustan during apartheid, those states were abolished under the new constitution in 96

too many dogs. dog pound to handle sick and old. spay/neuter. find work is a great idea as well.
