Totally agree with Gene on VISITING HOURS 9:12. The only good thing about the film is the awesome trailer showing the lights in the front of a hospital going out leaving the remaining lights to form a gigantic skull. It's like they marketed the film that way because Michael Ironside looks like Jack Nicholson & they wanted to deceive unsuspecting theatre goers into thinking that the film was going to about Jack Torrance in a haunted hospital. 5 stars for the trailer, 0 stars for the film.

What I remember most about Visiting Hours was that image of the hospital building with the giant skull formed out of illuminated windows which was featured in all the advertising (poster, adds, Tv commercial, video packaging, etcetera). I've also seen the flick, and it ain't bad, no. There are some pretty suspenseful and horrifying scenes, and Michael Ironside makes for a pretty creepy and disturbing killer.

I remember “The Beast Within” was heavily promoted as a new great horror film. It was awful and even distributed by MGM which of course is a highly known film company. As far as “The Beach Girls,” at least it had an incredibly sexy woman in it who’s name is Jeanna Tomasina. I remember how awesome she was in 1982. Terrible film but she was lovely in the film.

Visiting Hours is definitely not as sick as they claim, most of the deaths don’t show much blood and gore. Actually the goriest scene involves the killer injuring himself, but besides that it’s rather tame compared to other slashers from that time. The movie itself is more of a character study on the killer, definitely worth a watch if you enjoy slasher films or character studies.

Well it's not SPECTACULARLY GORY, no, but some of the kill scenes ARE pretty SICK and DISTURBING (like, for example, when the killer cuts a patients oxygen hose and takes pictures of her while she's dying). Splashing and spraying blood ain't EVERYTHING to a horror flick after all.

"The Beast Within"-Oh come on, it was a refreshing departure from the slasher films and had some great make up effects. "Blonde Ambition"-Madonna will use that title for one of her tours. "The Grim Reaper"-Roger, your lucky you didn't see the uncut version. "Beach Girls"-Seen it a few times on cable. "Senior Snatch"-Sounds like a bunch of nonsense. "Fighting Back"-How not to use a guy whose not made for movies for a "Death Wish" ripoff. "Wrong is Right"-James Bond can't save this movie. "Visiting Hours"-Good cast, bad movie. "Barbarosa"-Gary Busy had been in some bad movies, but this isn't one of them, Willie Nelson was a better actor than you think, Roger hated this movie, but Gene liked it. Roger must have been in a bad mood when he saw this.
@jessecoffey47375 жыл бұрын
Actually, Roger's Dog award for *Barbarosa* wasn't applied to the film itself, which Roger really wanted to see but didn't, but to the distributor (Universal) for pulling it out of distribution.

These guys seemed to not pay attention to detail quite often, especially for a movie they disliked. The Beast within wasn't a "Locust" it was a giant Cicada that impregnated his mother. That was the reason he had his metamorphosis during his 17th summer. Even worse, Siskel thought the Terminator and Reese came through a portal from a different planet, even though it's explained thoroughly that they're from the future on Earth!!!
