Most of them have a lot of fun. Even the ones who don't have fun are better off than just staying in their kennel.

I just want to say, I really appreciate you taking the time to put captions on these videos. Most channels, even the huge ones with big budgets, don't bother, but all of these videos are beautifully well-captioned and I also appreciate the extra commentary in the captions that point out observations we may have missed. Great work on these.

Thanks! I'm one of those people who watches a DVD movie multiple times with the various commentaries or turns on the subtitles in order to catch everything people say. I also like funny subtitles/cc such as "[glaring silently in Spanish]". I wish I had the time to add more details to the captions, but by the time I get around to doing them, I'm tired of it and running out of time.

My puppy is obsessed with these videos. Every time it pauses with the dogs name she wags uncontrollably at the freeze frame 😂
@DogPlaygroupStories Жыл бұрын
I'm glad she likes the videos. Wagging at the freeze frames is good because it means she interprets it as a good thing, not that the dog in the video is threatening.

Poor Lou. He wants to go home.

It took two more months, but he did get adopted into a real home and got out of the shelter.

Good. He has such pretty blue eyes. He definitely just wants some peace and quiet. Thanks for the update. Your videos are pretty much looped 24/7 on my living room tv. My dog and I appreciate your channel.

I wanna more and more pet owners could have more intention into the dog joints protection. According to your videos,they could get to know the real purpose of caring for dogs. And how to use those dog leg braces for their dogs.I think you are the perfect one who could have video collaborations.How do you think?

I was surprised to hear about Clove not being easy! She seems like such a sweet dog (she is, they all are). I am a fan of her, and Rambo, and Zeus, and Panther, and Oso and Luna, and Mr. Bones! I love watching them. Are visitors allowed in the yard? I would love to come see them. I wish I could take them all.

In the play yard, the dogs are interacting with other dogs and making their own decisions. Going to/from the kennels, the dogs are being controlled by a human who drags them by other dogs in cages that are angry and barking at them. Normally dogs have the choice of fight or flight, which they're free to do in the play yard. But humans walking them remove the flight option, so any highly emotional situation for the dog is likely to cause the fight instinct. These two types of situations (trusting their own ability to handle dog-dog interactions vs trusting the human's ability to protect them) have very different impacts on different dogs. Walking a dog using good loose leash techniques gives the dog the feeling of having the flight option and shows them that the human is trusting them. Visitors aren't allowed in the play yard. In the past, some of the playgroups were held in a different yard where the public could watch the dogs, but that hasn't happened in about a year. I used to watch dogs at dog parks, myself, and I certainly understand wanting to watch the playgroup dogs.

@@DogPlaygroupStories Thank you. Is there any way to make the transition from the kennel to the yard a little less stressful? I know you said walking them on a loose leash helps but what could make the other dogs more comfortable. i have an idea for a foster sanctuary one day, or something like that.

There are definitely all sorts of things that would help if you're creating your own kennels. Don't have lots of dogs facing directly at each other in the kennels, and the closer they are the worse it is. The best thing you can do is have a direct path to get out of the kennel area passing as few dogs as possible and allowing as much space as possible. The way kennel doors open will affect the initial direction the dog starts moving. Look for ways to minimize noise bouncing around the kennel area. There are all sorts of other things about handling the dogs and designing kennels, most of them are very minor but they add up.

We came down and met with an adoption counselor about Rambo before Christmas. It breaks my heart, but he is just not a good fit for our household. What do you think of Lou? We have one large,kind of timid 4 yr old boy and an 18 1/2 yr old female. Lou seemed curious, but not so rough and tumble as some of the dogs. A bit shy. No notes on him on the website because he is pretty new… Thanks for posting these videos. Very helpful to see the dogs interact!
@DogPlaygroupStories Жыл бұрын
Lou would probably be good around his owners but not be affectionate toward new people and might even guard against new people (resource guarding the people he knows). The dogs you mentioned might be okay. Lou chewed on things, opened the refrigerator and pantry and ate things inside. He was at the home for a short time, so I don't know if that's a long term issue or not.

I don't have a dog named Lunar listed for that playgroup but I think you mean Luna. She was adopted in June and she was a black and white pit bull.

@@DogPlaygroupStories Sorry, I meant Luna. She was lovely. Thank you for taking the time to answer
@DogPlaygroupStories Жыл бұрын
@@ironix1 Yeah, Luna was a very popular dog at the shelter, although she had a loud high pitched bark that resonated in the kennels. 😄
