My Decker Rat, Junebug, she is 3 years old now. Got her at 8 weeks from a rescue. She was found wandering the streets. She is the instigator of the bunch (I have 3 other dogs). She likes to pick on & play with the biggest dogs at the dog park. She goes for their legs which I understand is a hunting trait bred into the Deckers. I heard they are a cross between a Basenji & a Rat Terrier which are used to hunt lions. Junebug is definitely fearless. She is also a cuddle bug; she likes to burrow under my blankets & sleep curled up against my back. I had her for 2 years & didn't even know what she was before some random gentleman pointed her out & said "That's a Decker Rat Terrier". I did a search on KZbin & every photo I saw looked almost exactly like my Junebug. She is also very intelligent & obedient. Love my Bugaboo.

My beautiful mini foxterriers 3 of them 2 sisters & their little brother gave me 18yres of love, loyalty & joy. They passed over rainbow bridge 2 years ago. I still miss them but adopted a retired greyhound not replacing my little foxes but to help fill the hole in my heart, which he dose bless him ❤❤❤

My fat terrier is nothing like people describe, she’s actually so different than any dog. She doesn’t dig, bark, bite, chew stuff, she doesn’t roll around, she doesn’t whine, she doesn’t protect or like to play with other dogs. She’s always been very shy and anxious, she’s scared of most noises and you often forget she is there because she’s so quiet. My favorite time is when she gets exited and wants to play a bit, when she wants to play you need to keep her exited and interact otherwise she will stop playing. If you make her exited enough she might bark which is funny 😅 but like any other dog she gets super exited about food. She loves tacos 🌮 I love her beautiful fur and her human like eyes. Watching this makes me want to get out of bed and go give her a kiss 🥰

I have a Decker Rat Terrier. Awesome dog and all so loyal. She’s a chicken jerky nut. Great dog 💟🐶

I have had nothing but trouble with allergies giving my decker ratties through the years chicken. If yours have trouble with their ears clogging up all the time or chewing on their feet that is what it is. Man there is chicken in everything fairly priced and it sucks but they are worth the trouble

I guess I’m lucky with our Decker Ratty. She’s very finicky. Sometimes I give her filet mignon and she gives me a look and walks away. My Great Pyrenees give me the “keep it coming dad” look when I give her leftovers mignon.

We lost our rat terrier last year. She was almost 15. We just bought a Teddy Roosevelt terrier, or as I call her, terror. She's Hell on wheels, but very smart. It's gonna take alot of work, but she's going to be a good dog. She was actually born without a tail.

Our extremely intelligent, loving, playful, cuddly, demanding suite, loud, barking, rat, terrier is one of the favorite dogs of the ones we have had so far. Our prior dogs have included a beautiful female, German shepherd, a saint, Bernard with very short hair, which is a joy, and extremely high energy, but loving, golden retriever, and one dog more, a Tibetan terrier about 25 pounds, who was horribly treated as a puppy up to about a year, but became loyal sweet dog given how he was treated as a puppy. But now this ratty we have is super good super fun. I wish people would not undo what breeders have tried to do for years and that’s to get a purebred dog. A purebred dog will give a vet and owners some piece of mine because they will have more of a standardized pattern of illnesses, weaknesses, love, ability, train, ability, etc. when the dog is mixed with many other dogs sometimes is very hard to figure out what is wrong with him. Love your dog they are swell and fun and great companions.😊

Where’d you find the price for those pups? I looked here in Colorado for a duo to take up the rodent control my last two Ratties and one Chihuahua took care of. One passed at 13 the second at 16, Chihuahua lived to 17. Contacted a Rat Terrier breeder and I was given a price of $1500 for a female who was bred out. $3000 for a one year old leftover that didn’t get sold. Was told that a puppy was up to $6000. Good grief, the birth of my first child wasn’t that much. Got so disgusted I stopped looking.

Can someone tell me if these make good family dogs? We have some serious mouse problems where i live and cant have cats due to allergies but ive been researching this breed. I worry my son who is 4 would be a little too aggressively loving on a smaller dog. He is getting better but i still worry.
