My rescue dog won't hold still for any of this. I need a second person to put the drops in while I hold her. It's definitely a two-person job. I got her from a high-kill government shelter after she was found outdoors, so I don't think she ever (or very rarely maybe once, possibly at her spay surgery or shelter intake grooming) had her ears cleaned before she met me. 4:41 If you see dark reddish brown, almost black specks like coffee grounds or dark colored wax, your dog has ear mites and you need to get a pesticide like pyrethrins (chrysanthemum flower extract), in addition to the salicylic acid (exfoliator and pore penetrating) cleanser.

To avoid the issues with the fluid being cold. Put it in your pocket 30 minutes prior to use. It'll be far more comfortable. Depending on bottle size I've put min under the armpit.

My labrador turns into a pancake followed by a worm. She hates the noise the bottle makes so I squirt it in but don't stop squirting until the bottle is out of her ear. Another way, although not as effecrive, is to soak the cotton wool and squeeze the fluid into the ear.

My dog goes to hide when the ear wash bottle comes out. She hates it!

The solution at our vet is too expensive! Is there something I can make myself.

Yes. There s short videos on KZbin by other vets. One is 1/2 cup green tea cooled to warm, with 2 TBLS. of apple cider vinegar. Twice a day . 5-10 drops. The other is Witch Hazel with Aloes , non scented (health food store) I m trying those right now.
