I really like this narrating style video. It feels like a hangout. And I can relate to the not sharing sister story. My older sister was very similar. She hated sharing her stuff, but on very rare occasions she would give me toys she was tired of or felt like she had out grown only to later forget that she had given them to me and be really angry that I was touching her stuff. Older sisters are a struggle.

I really like this type of video, a combination of part narration, part time lapse. I wanted an American girl doll growing up, and I used to get all of their catalogs for the dolls and clothing, but didn’t have the money to buy one because they were like $100-$200.

I do hotel reservations and customer service for a living and some of our hotels have American Girl packages where they supply an American Girl doll, a doll bed, and also milk and cookies. For just a little bit more, you can also go all out and have the room decorated in pink with curtains and various other pinkities, to coin a word. :)

It's kinda interesting, I grew up in the 90s in Norway and we had a lot of the same books and cartoons and stuff for kids as America. However, the American girls is definitely one thing that we did not have over here. It's interesting to see the "small" differences between countries.

I was too old for American Girl dolls I think I was in my 30s when they came out. I live in California but I took a trip to New York City in the 1990s and happened to walk by a huge American Girl store. I had to tell everyone back home, oh my God these little girls were totally freaking out! They had these huge shopping bags and they were just beside themselves with joy. I thought, how are their mothers ever going to get them out of that store, they are completely delirious! I remember I thought it was hilarious but I really did not know much about the dolls.

Oh man. We were never the family to really have enough money to buy American girl dolls. I got Kit as a gift and LOVED her (She was the 1920's doll who lived during the great depression). This was also around the time they began to sell "just like me" (?) Dolls, or the look alike dolls. I begged for one, for sooooo long, and eventually got a little me. :)

I tend to fast forward through the long time lapses because they’re so long and nothing really happens minute to minute to make me want to watch. So narrated videos are my favourite. You could do a Q&A to voice over your puzzle time lapses that would give you something to talk about 😊👍🏼💕

So much nostalgia! I was born in 99, so still in the range. A lot of my friends had American girl dolls, but my parents were really sceptical because I was never a doll-playing child in the first place, so instead I ended up with a good few books (I think I remember Addy’s, Josephina’s, Molly’s, Kirsten’s, Felicity’s and some newer girls too) but never any dolls. Definitely one chunk of my childhood that helped foster my hunger for history and the stories of women and minorities.

Karen, what is the white board you are putting puzzles together on? Today I went to Home Depot and looked at many things, but none of them were sturdy enough to hold puzzles and move them to another table. What are you using, and where can I buy the same? Thanks.
@KarenPuzzles5 жыл бұрын
This one is just on a white table, but I'll often use a sheet of 20x30 foam core. You can get it at most craft stores or office supply stores!
@catinkapuzzles76575 жыл бұрын
I use "multiplex". thats what it's called here in the Netherlands. Google translate tells me it is called plywood in English. most commonly plywood comes in the wooden natural color. here you can buy a white laminated form. maybe you have an option in your stores to buy backboard for closets/cupboards. the cheap bookcases have these kind of white backboards too. here you can buy these separately too. Can't imagine that there are no options in those big American stores of yours... 😁😁😉😉
@KateJanssens5 жыл бұрын
Lowes and Home Depot definitely have plywood in several thicknesses, as well as the bookcase backboard @@catinkapuzzles7657 is talking about. Look for something called 1/8 inch hardboard. Foam core is a lot lighter when you're moving puzzles around, but hardboard comes in bigger sheets.
