You did good, Henry. Over the years I've had a lot of problems with other people doing oil changes, even the dealers. Over tighting the filters, drain plugs, over filling, leaving mess underneath. I'm 75 years old and still changing the oil in all of my vehicles. You know what the say, "If you want something done right" "Do it yourself".

Good job Henry, I always hand tighten. I put old oil in diesel fuel can marked OIL. Auto zone has tank you pour in old oil. I do three vehicles currently. I do it every five thousand.👍 I owned cars since 1974 when I was sixteen, always did it myself. I think your dog could drive as good as some people on the road😂

I'm proud of you Henry. You probably didn't save any money, but now you can sleep at night knowing it was done right! I've seen these clowns in action before and there is no way in hell they are touching my car or truck. They strip drain plugs, over fill, under fill and use the cheapest products they can find. Plus, the kid changing your oil just hired yesterday. I'm 81 and have always changed my own oil and will till the day I die. The secret is to change your oil often and regularly. You going to 5-30 # was a good idea. A life saver for your engine is to fill up the filter if you can, that way your engine is not running dry while the filter fills up! some filters mount horizonal or inverted and this is not possible. The triton 5.4 litter is a very good engine except it like to guzzle gas, mine got about 12 miles to the gallon if you dropped it out of an airplane!!!
@MowersNBlowersАй бұрын
Yeah my filter went in sideways so not possible. I’ve heard horror stories with jiffy lube and Val online quick lube stations. Part time teenagers just goofing around with your car. I’ve heard of wrong filters, not tight, engines blowing all the time! It’s always a gamble when you take them there.

My 68 Plymouth Belvedere 2 door club coupe with the slant 6, my Dad bought it brand new and always used a orange Fram ph8a.... The filter is huge.... Never had an issue or engine sluge.... Engine still runs perfectly.

im 45 year mechanic rule of thumb turn filter 1 full turn after gasket contact hand tighten because you don't want to collapse filter with wrench but if you pay attention you can just fine

Wow Henry that truck holds the same amount of oil as my Dakota 4.7!! I use 10w 40 or 5w 40 here in Virginia!! And Mopar oil filters!! Wix makes really good fuel and oil filters!!

yah I have had same issue and confused me , 7317 and 6607 both fit the same car for me one is just taller then the other. the 6607 they made smaller for accessibility reasons in certain cars. you can interchange them with no problems. This is specifically for certain NISSAN and HONDA cars that uses these filters.

for me its worth it if I have the time, for my truck its 5.7 qts of oil and would cost me $70-90 at dealer or lube place, I do it for $25-30 , my city has a recycling center that takes oil along with one the local lube place and any AutoZone
@mr1pearlАй бұрын
For sure I would have been skeptical about that filter and it's just because of the length such a difference I'd a been hours figuring that out 🤔 Always a steam of oil down my arm no matter how many oil changes I've down why ???

I never heard of WIX brand. I’ve always used Mobil-1. What’s funny when I last changed mine, I got less oil drained than the 5 quarts I put in. Maybe I didn’t warm the engine first before draining?
@MowersNBlowersАй бұрын
Yeah Wix usually sponsors motor sports like NASCAR and indycar, that’s when I’ve seen it, then mechanics I know on KZbin tell me they all use Wix. Remember there’s always a bunch of oil in the old filter you removed, or the engine burned some of it up.
