Proud owner of a '65 Cherokee 235 here. Good video, good to see another 235 owner getting their hands dirty. My first oil change as an owner I did myself, without a A&P and with some KZbin instructions--right before I had a 3hr XC flight. Lessons learned: don't do your first oil change right before a long XC flight!:) Get an A&P to show you the ropes. Have a good oil waste container. Practice safety-wiring. It all went good, but I had a lot of time straight and level at 8500' to think about that oil change... Also, my eyes darted to the oil pressure/temp gauges more than I would've liked. Next up: inspect, clean and gap spark plugs (after bore scoping the cylinders). The fun never stops! Enjoy the 235!
@RusscanFLY5 ай бұрын
I give you credit Brother for taking that job on yourself. I wasn’t too worried about the oil draining, and the oil filling. But that whole safety wiring thing had me a little shook! I kept wondering if I was going to be able to do it correctly, especially since I never use that tool before. It was definitely good to see it being used, so that I knew what they expect next time. Take care, and enjoy that 235! Hopefully one day our paths will cross.

That’s exactly like the oil change on my Subaru Outback. The oil filter faces up like that. What I do is actually take the filter off slower than that. As soon as the oil drips down the side of the filter, I turn a quarter turn every 10 seconds until the oil slows down, or the filter comes off. Whichever happens first.
