I've only found your channel a week ago. I binge watch your videos at home, at work, on the road. Out of the dozens of videos I've watch. They're all bangers all informative and helpful. This video explained so much for me. I have avoided heat for years. Anything id Google as an explanation would always blame heat damage. I wondered why my hair kept getting damaged even without heat. Meanwhile its definitely been me over using products and bad habits like brushing while wet. I big chopped waist to ears 2 years ago. I started seeing the same problems and thats when I found you. I also wondered before finding you how was my hair MORE healthy as a child and as an adult its breaking non stop. As a kid i only used 3 products. As an adults its like 20 products. So much money wasted over the last decade.

This makes so much sense. This explains why my hair looks way better and my styles last longer when I actually dry my hair (overhead or blow dryer) versus when I air dry. Wow!!! I noticed it, but I didn't have the scientific reason. Mind blown!

this actually makes a lot of sense. i actually was trying to get heat damage (i.e. heat training) to loosen my curl pattern and it wasn't working. My hair was still as curly as before. That's because I wasn't doing the things that a lot of naturals do to break the hair down. It makes sense now.

Yes exactly. Some hair is extremely hard to heat train.

🇬🇧 🙋🏾♀️ THIS 🙌🏾 So many naturals are focused on avoiding heat at all costs and ensuring their hair "feels" good layering products on it and co-washing. Then when they take what they think is a healthy head of hair to the salon, and the hair is washed properly stripping away the lie the true condition of the hair is exposed! You've been saying this for years Cyn 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾#haireducation 👩🏾🎓

I always wondered why when people got there silk pressed they said it was damaged after having it done once now it makes sense 💡Like you've said previously it takes time for hair to weather. Glad you spoke about the positive and negative charge, I've heard someone speak about it beforehand but you've made it much clearer. Keep coming with the knowledge.

Thank you. Didn't know this. I'm thankful for the KZbin Naturals trying to help us figure out how to maintain our natural hair especially since we weren't taught by family who I feel should have shown us, myself specifically how to care for my natural hair. I've even spoken to a few beauticians/ hairstylists but to no avail. I also want to say thank you for giving us the chemistry especially since I never got the opportunity to go to hair school but I love doing hair and figured out on my own with the help of God, KZbin, & others with long hair how to grow my hair to waste length but kind of starting over trying to do it right after a disaster and having my most recent baby. It's still a journey. I'm learning so I can help others also because I do everyone's hair in my house pretty much and I just want what's best for my family. God bless you. I'm always looking at your Amazon store just trying to figure things out.

Genuine question 🤔 I thought our hair was curly because of the shape and diameter of our follicles but here you are saying depending on the amount of sulfur in our hair determines how curly our hair is. Can you please elaborate?
@IamCynDoll2 жыл бұрын
It’s both, the size of the follicle and the amount of disulfide bonds. The size of the follicle is how the hair comes out the cuticle. The amount of disulfide bonds is how the hair looks once it’s outside of the scalp. A relaxer cant do anything to the hair still within the follicle but once’s it’s out we can see how many sulfur bonds curly hair has vs straight hair.

@@jaimeknight7505 I feel the same, in terms of the ones that are on the market, which tend to be a bit pricey. It makes sense, for me at least, to just use (fractionated) coconut oil, and olive oil as my main carrier oils and then adding a bit of castor oil, for it's nutritional benefits, then adding (maybe) some vitamin oils, but that's it. Adding a couple essential oils for a pretty smell helps with having a nice fragrance to myself too, like how Egyptians used to do perfume. I think people put too many ingredients which they can otherwise eat. The only exception for me was making my own coffee/caffeine oil, because I don't like consuming coffee. But that's just as a nice treatment.

Hi Cyn 🌼 Another great video! After watching your video I’ve been suggested this video “ The man who triggered the natural hair community world wide with one video!”. Check it out
@QueenMufasa5522 жыл бұрын
This is why I fear heat with my whole life. Not only did it loosen my curls waaaay long ago, I depended on heat to my make my hair look neat and as a result, my hair became so thin. I big chopped two weeks ago (3rd big chop btw) and I look forward to getting my hair healthy. If I feel the need to stretch it, I will just braid it up after washing coz threading can be quite detrimental to the thickness of your hair.
@IamCynDoll2 жыл бұрын
You’ve been using the tools wrong. Flat irons don’t thin out hair the person not using the tool properly thins out hair. Practice before you use a flat iron.
@QueenMufasa5522 жыл бұрын

Threading doesn't affect the thickness of your hair. I do it so often and I know many other women who do. Maybe it depends on how you thread.

I’m a new subbie! And I’ve learned so much from watching your videos. I do have a question. Is it better to be a straight natural or a no heat natural? Heat on a regular whether it’s monthly causes heat damage. But then you mentioned that no heat and curly on a regular can cause damage also.
