In America, an official negative judgment on your failure to pay a bill or loan will stay on your record for 7 years. This leads to a lower credit score causing someone trying to get a loan have to pay higher interest rates or even be denied a loan. This is part of the cause of poverty in America: people mess up one time (usually young and inexperienced people) and it stays with them for years like a boot on the neck. Finland seems like a more fair and just country.
@SamT304
@SamT304 Жыл бұрын
Not true. If you missed the payment, you need to clear it with the company and explain that you overlooked or lost the bill. They wii always work with you and that’s the end of it. Of course, if you accumulate more bills than you can handle - you should be held accountable. Watch your budget, don’t overspend!
@bufordghoons9981
@bufordghoons9981 Жыл бұрын
@@SamT304 You are correct. I should have said "repeated failure to pay a loan or bill" will result in lower credit score. But if you don't take the trouble to work with the loan company, it will be reported and your credit score will go down. Fortunately, I do not speak from experience but from observing those who think it is no big deal to miss payments, or they wait until their service is cut and then they remember, "Oh, I didn't pay the electric bill."
@SamT304
@SamT304 Жыл бұрын
@@bufordghoons9981 exactly! The irresponsible people seem to conveniently forget, that someone always has to pay for what they ‘omissed’ and then they cry poor. They spend and spend and then complain ‘I have too many bills I can’t pay’! I am from a baby-boomer generation; and most of us vere taught not to go beyond our budget, either large or small. That’s what we taught our children to do. One time, my credid card statement got lost in the mail (before we switched to electronic billing), so I missed the payment. Then on my next month’s statement I saw a late payment charge. I called them, apologized for not noticing the missing statement (use multiple credit cards), paid in full and never got any penalty or credit scors reduction.
@bufordghoons9981
@bufordghoons9981 Жыл бұрын
@@SamT304 I'm a Gen-Xer --my grandparents were children/early teens during the Great Depression, so we all grew up very careful with money. I see that you are responsible with money. Not only are you looking at your statements, which you very well ought to be! but you pay your bills on time which is as it should be: "Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed." --Romans 13:7 There was only one time I missed a bill. Before I used electronic billing, I would place the outgoing bills on a shelf, stamped and paid ready for me to mail out. One day, a very windy Spring day, I had the windows open and apparently the wind blew the Mortgage bill off the shelf without me noticing it. Later that day, I grabbed the bills in a hurry and mailed them off. I ought to have checked to make sure I had all the bills due but I did not, being busy and distracted as I often was those days. A week or so later, I got a call from the Loan company who said, 'We have not received your payment." I told the Loan person I had paid it. I went online and checked my bank account and saw that no debit had been made. I told the Loan rep. "You are right! I do not know why it hasn't showed up. All I can think of is that it was a windy day the day I mailed the bill. The wind must have blown it out of my hand as I shoved the bills into the Post Office box without paying attention. I will write another check and mail it today. I'm very sorry!" After I got off the phone with the polite loan person, I quickly wrote another check, drove to the post office and paid the bill. I do not remember if I was charged a late fee but it did not impact my credit score. A few weeks later, when I was doing some cleaning, wedged flat at the bottom of the wall I saw the white envelope of the mortgage bill camouflaged against the white wall, stamped but never sent because the wind had blown it back there. After that, I stopped putting my bills on that shelf.
@SamT304

@@bufordghoons9981 that’s a very good story in many aspects: you absorbed your gradpa’s values; you learned a lesson to pay more attention while mailing your bills; and you were able to resolve this delay with your bank, without becoming rude and angry. I wish all our young people behaved like this… Kudos to your family and you!

Hi! I might be moving to Finland on August and I'm a little bit concerned with the tension between Russia and the west. I live in southwestern europe and I assume that the whole issue must feel lighter here. The fact that Russia and Finland share borthers and the fact that Finland might be joinning NATO are all things that come to my mind when I think about moving there. I've been watching your videos a lot and would love it if you made a video regarding this topic. I'm curious about how Finns perceive this situation (you, in particular).

Morro! I watch your vlogs occasionally, not often, because my desire to get to Finland is HUGE and there is some reverse psychology here, for fear of being too disappointed if I live too long with the idea of getting to Finland and don't I'll succeed. So...FEAR OF FAILURE😵. A Japanese would understand me better... So I avoid Nordic videos and vlogs quite often and try to focus on language lessons. If I were to make a top 5 of the Nordic countries, FINLAND occupies the 1st position. So: 5. 🇩🇰Danmark 4. 🇧🇻Norge/Noreg 3. 🥉🇸🇪SVERIGE 2. 🥈🇮🇸 ÍSLAND 1. 🥇🇫🇮 SUOMI🏆✊👏 Although Norway is the second alternative because Bokmål is much easier than Suomen but much more expensive and the regional language area is uneven (see Nynorsk - Norwegian dialects) 😩😫 But without the Finnish language I know I shouldn't even dream of having my own house in Finland. This is the harsh reality of Finnish society and its northern neighbors. Anyway, I could lead an extremely healthy and balanced life in Finland. I don't smoke, I only drink on special occasions, and my favorite drink is DRY WINE I don't consume and I don't tolerate drug addicts and alcoholics 🚫🍸🍸🍸🍸🍸🍸🍸🍸🍸🍸🍸🍸... ☝️🥴 I consider them a social danger and I report them URGENTLY to the police. I will be interested in seasonal jobs and will apply to as many as possible. Nähdään! 👁️👁️🖐️
