Reason why the Mercedes Benz was idling poorly was due to lack of maintenance. If the owner replaced the engine air filter and the sparks plugs on time, he/she wouldn’t have those issues to begin with. Preventative maintenance is the key to make almost any car perform the way they were supposed to.

In 1967 my mother had a 1958 British Ford 2-door 'Popular' car. On a Sunday, I would clean its spark plugs and ignition points, and adjust the carburettor idling, so I could start the car, engage 1st gear, let up on the clutch, and get out of the car while it trickled along beside me at walking pace, like a family pet, perfectly smoothly. Remembering to shut it down before the intersection. Very much appreciating your advice.

You do realise that Scotty hates working on anything other than Toyotas...he's a mechanic, not a driver. I would own certain models of Merc any day. And the extra time some maintenance jobs take is worth it if you actually know how to drive the car, not just use it as a taxi. My Golf's plugs are a pain to change, but it's worth every minute when I'm driving it, because it drives like a go-kart, not some land-yacht of a yank tank. Each to his own...

It's a pain in the but enough to do that in the heat. But to do that with all those stupid bolts and cosmetic parts in the heat while having to set up a camera and reposition it to change the angle........ My HAT IS OFF TO YOU!!! AMAZING WORK!!! Thank you, SCOTTY!!!!!!!

Can you imagine if it was well maintained ☺️ Scotty this car is on your channel not for the first time, good to see some work is done on it! I'm certain this also applies to American made cars and trucks, My Silverado was doing the shimmies when I stopped at a red light, cleaned the (Mass Air Flow Sensor), and it stopped shaking. Going to replace the engine air filter tomorrow, haven't changed that since I bought the truck, I am pretty sure she will be running close to brand new! Thanks for the video Scotty!!!!!!!!

Do you have a check engine light on ? If so , check the code . Are you using cheaper gas ? Maybe try better gas . Did you check coil packs , MAF sensor ? What kind of car and mileage ? Does it smoke when idling? If high miles , could be valve sticking or other worn out internal parts .
@techalyzer
@techalyzer 5 жыл бұрын
@@jayhockley8841 Check engine was on until I figured it was a loose EGR hose, clamped that down and check engine went off right away. It is good gas, coils not replaced yet, no MAF on this car, no other problems. The weird thing is that it comes and goes, usually when it's cold, after a long trip you don't even feel it idling, but when it starts up it's like an earthquake. :) I do have some other ideas, but no money for them yet...

Note how honest Scotty is! I took my F150 into a place for front end issues, AND missing. They said they road tested it, and couldn't tell it was running rough. LIARS! I turned the key to leave, and it was running rough! Check engine light came on later, took it to another place, told them about the first place. That place said they couldnt work on it without a code. LIARS! Months later, it happened again, and the third place said, YES, they can pull the code without the check engine light!😠
