I see a lot of people building kit yurts but eventually after 5 years, they revert to Stick frame , well -insulated Cabins..Al does it right the first time although he did start with kids of Carribean Cottages..at least they are Pillar and Post and Solid..Kens Karpentry approach is hybrid..build your own kit in a warm space like a Garage..its a lot cheaper in the end that way..

The upper part yes ,but i'm concerned that each post resting on the concrete is only getting support from one bolt holding down the metal end piece and that even when clad the building could become a wind tunnel.Fingers crossed !

@@4Classie You seem to concentrate upon snow weight,my concern is wind and as i said the wind tunnel effect.With the weight of the roof and wind and one bolt at the end posts i see a problem.Ideally,starting from now the posts need bracketing to the concrete and because of the edge and use of the floor that can only be done length ways.Yes,i have had to deal with this problem,less snow but more wind.

Having them lagged in is great too! This is much better support for the rafters! I like the way you and Gina are doing the rafters together. That's a lot of rafters, 37 to make. They seem to be going up well. Forrest is such a cute kitty! Wow, they're all up! Looks great! Good idea to put hurricane ties at the barn end! So now the purlins. Forrest needed rescuing!
