We lost power Thursday night during the height of the hurricane, got power back Monday 09/30/24 at about 6:30 pm. We have no damage except big tree branches broken & on the ground, about a dump truck full it seems. The house about 45 feet north of us had a large tree fall on their house. Our little town is ok just a lor of damage. Our whole county lost power. We will rebuild.

I drive a mixer in central PA, too much is ALWAYS better than not enough. If you don't have someplace for the extra we can take it back, it's not like you're forced to take it if you have nowhere to use it. @JeRKIIАй бұрын
Exactly what I was thinking. Also want to shout out the driver most parts they won't get out and they just charge you extra for having to sit there and wait.
@rupe53Ай бұрын
@@JeRKII seems to me that every pour for Lumnah and Ken's Garges, the driver has gone the extra mile. On time, courteous, and helpful.
@bruceadler-9410Ай бұрын
He either didn't allow enough extra for the thicker edge beams or he assumed that the interior would be EXACTLY 4-inches thick. A 4-inch slab and 8-inch deep by 1-foot wide border beam comes out to exactly 8 cubic yards -- not the 7.5 yards Al calculated. Exactly 8 cubic yards was never going to be enough. He should have mentioned his final slab dimensions and concrete order in a video a couple of days ago and one of his viewers would have caught the mistake. An 8 yard order would only have worked if the forms and grade were all exactly perfect (i.e., a 4-inch thick slab with an edge beam that's exactly 12-inches wide by 8-inches thick). There's always slight variations and you're always a little too thick here and there (because you never want the slab to be too thin). For example, if the slab is slightly too thick and averages to 4.5-inches rather than 4.0-inches, that's his missing half a yard. Similarly if the border beam was supposed to be exactly 8-inches deep but he formed it with 2x10 form boards and forgot to put 2-inches of stone inside the form boards, that's also an extra half a yard. And he definitely didn't allow for the fact that the edge beam isn't exactly 12-inches by 8-inches. The stone at the edge tapers from 4-inches deep down to 8-inches deep at the edges. That taper easily adds an extra quarter yard over what it would take for a perfectly rectangular 12-inch by 8-inch edge beam. Regardless, he should have ordered at least 10% extra, not just an extra half a yard. And rather than making up forms for whatever leftover he ends up with, he could have just mounding up the extra on some scrap poly sheeting, and then once it begins to set up, trowel it into the shape of random pavers.
@rupe53Ай бұрын
@@bruceadler-9410 you bring up some valid points. I also wondered the same and my best guess is that perimeter is not 12 inches because his bucket on the machine is closer to 16 inches. There are also voids in the gravel, despite it being compacted. Right there is another half yard.
@heathmix3204Ай бұрын
Needed just one more person, but hey you made it work. Always sucks to come up short though I always add a yard to my order, but again you made it work.

@LilYeshuaАй бұрын
Yeah,the grade being off(too deep)will eat up concrete. Ideally you want a quarter inch of cream on top. As long as you don't end up with a bird bath from having a low spot in the slab. We've always checked our concrete load for consistency and that it looked like it's supposed to look for that mix before we left the concrete plant to avoid what having to take it back to the plant. That would be counted as a rejected load and went against us. On concrete batching small finish up loads the scales will usually overweigh on one material. Also,if you have to wait a little while for a finish up load chop back into section the concrete where the new concrete will lay against to try and mesh the two sections properly otherwise you'll have a cold joint.
