Thanks for making this video. I'm probably going to pick one of these up, so I've been watching a bunch of reviews. Just a quick note, I'm not sure you focused the 5W engraving head properly. Other people have said that unlike the other two lasers, you need to space it with the guard on using a clear piece of plastic that came with the machine. The results they got looked a bit clearer that way. Not sure if it mentions this in the instructions (sounds like they were a bit sub-par), but it's worth looking into or trying out. I enjoyed the video a lot though. That engraving on the aluminium looked really great!

Hey, great video thanx.. I have a question.. Two actually :) Which head you used for the aluminium and with that head can i use it also for stencil cutting ? Thanks again..

I used the shorter focal length for the aluminum, and the longer one for cutting. You can also etch with the cutting head, so if you were going to buy only one head I would get the longer focal length head.

Great video and explanation of this engravers uses. If I had a desire to engrave a wine barrel stave, which has a slight radius, could this machine handle that? Thanks for sharing your new gadget.
@DoItYourselfDad3 жыл бұрын
I would imagine it would work, the radius of a wine barrel is quite large. I would probably use one of the heads with a longer focal length and set the focus around mid-height on the barrel.

Great detail on the operation and so easy to watch. Thanks! Have you seen a small enclosure for sale? We are going to get one of these, soon. We plan to use it in the craft room of our house. So, we need an enclosure with a fume exhaust system. All the enclosures to purchase a much larger than needed. We are looking for one that is big enough and no bigger to keep more space available on the work table. (Yes, we could make one and may have to make one. First, we are looking to purchase.)

You will also need to vent the enclosure to the outside. On my 3d printer I used a collapsable plant greenhouse and rigged up a vent hose with a small fan.

@@DoItYourselfDadAh, a greenhouse! Good repurposing. I also heard that an aquarium air pump is a cheap way to add air assist to small laser engravers like this one.

could you have left the cutting module (one with the cone) on to engrave as well instead of changing modules?
@DoItYourselfDad2 жыл бұрын
Yes, if I were to buy only one module I’d buy the cutting one, it can engrave as well.

Could you have done another smaller circle cutout for the hole in the medallion? From the image on the tablet, it looked like you maybe had it as a hole that would be completely burned away, rather than a smaller circle you could pop out. Wondering if that's why it looked so uneven and charred.

My laser 1 weaker laser module has hardly any spark..what could be wrong. It like shoots a spark then a cpl sec later another spark..not doing a thing

Awesome video, definitely could do great for plates for different things. Also, WHAT HAPPEN TO THE DAD STASH??? Haha
@DoItYourselfDad3 жыл бұрын
Good to see you in the comments! I keep finding new things to make with this thing. I’m going to be engraving a couple guitar necks this weekend. Stash is gone for now, but my facial hair seems to change with the seasons so it’ll be back 😂

It looks like you left your cards in the wallet. I would have been tempted to remove them.
@DoItYourselfDad3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I did… probably shouldn’t have, but it doesn’t heat up the metal enough to damage them.
