Dojo Loach Rescue! I had a rough week at work and decided that the best way for a pick-me-up was to bring home even more fish, even though we are doing a cross country move at the end of the year and I said no more fish purchases in 2021. To continue with the bad idea, I only planned to bring home two and ended up with four.
When I stepped inside my local fish store to pick out the loaches, I saw one that was getting picked on by a catfish. I was heartbroken so I decided to bring it home with us. While helping me, the attendant kept berating me for wanting to nurse this fish back to health.
I felt tremendous guilt for leaving behind another loach I saw that was getting hurt, as I was only thinking about my move and how difficult it will be to take so many fish on this ride. Unable to assuage my guilt, I returned the next day to bring home with the other loach, with the assistance of my husband.
The attendant said nothing to my husband - as I expected - about wanting to purchase an injured fish.
All four loaches are currently in a 10 gallon fish tank and are being fed snello, frozen brine shrimp, frozen bloodworms, and Omega One sinking pellets. The tank undergoes a daily water change to ensure the best quality water and all leftover food gets vacuumed and disposed of.
It’s amazing how with just one week of fresh water, nutritious food, and reprieve from stress, the loaches are coming into their personalities and healing quite nicely.
KZbin, meet Spaghetti, Vermicelli, Capellini, and Rigatoni, my four new noodles!
