I'm late to the game of jiu jitsu over the past 3 years. All i knew of Keenan was the worm guard. I didn't realize he's such an awesome freakin' American. SUBBED

My fist professor was Gustavo Pires he was belted by Carlos Gracie Jr. Keenan defeated Pires. My current professor Alex Larmey with Evol Octopus Jiu Jitsu in Pasco, WA. Combat vet, Muay Thai fighter, combative instructor to say the least slightly broke us away from the BJJ cult. I/my family LOVES it! I’ve been aligned with Keenan’s facts and done hours of research myself. It lines up. EVEN Luta livre is catch wrestling/judo

Love the podcast, and great to see Keenan back! Also, Josh got really big! lol. I always really appreciate your insights in BJJ and the business of it. But on the medical bills discussion: -Medical bills are the leading cause of bankruptcy in the US, making up around 60% of them. -And California pretends to care about homeless people, but in reality they are pretty crappy, especially the richer areas that want to pretend they don't exist. For example, CA has about 180K Homeless people. Just San Francisco (~61K) and Los Angeles (~93K) alone have ~160K empty homes. If the state cared about solving homelessness it easily could.

I believe it was Yamashita Yoshitsugu who taught Teddy Roosevelt, not Maeda. Also, Nash Equilibrium is literally used to find a solution between players in a non-cooperative game, the opposite of what you stated. The prisoner's dilemma demonstrates this, where the NE is not cooperate. I am enjoying the pod, though.

The modern / Current, MMA Champions and top Submission Grapplers would "SMASH" Royce or Rickson (in their prime.) Kron Gracie's last UFC fight was a reflection as to the effectiveness of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu today. Rickson Gracie, 400-0, "all one needs is Gracie Jiu-Jitsu." 🤨

true. the term "Brazilian Jiujitsu" only came about because Rorion sued people to prevent them from using Gracie Jiujitsu. Before then in Brazil it was just called Jiujitsu. They had no need to call it Brazilian Jiujitsu. So Rorion is the reason the term "Brazilian Jiujitsu" was invented. It would have been called Gracie Jiujitsu if Rorion didnt sue people.

For the record every Brazilian I've ever talked to outside of the "BJJ community" Thinks it's really cringe that people who aren't Brazilian are opening up gyms and calling it Brazilian jujitsu, in fact going far enough that they don't like the name of their country being used in some Americans marketing
