Ye ibbjf judges are trash. Keenan: Back take, close to Mount transition, dominant sweeps, dominant positions, almost always the aggressor and gaudio wins? That was bs advantage as that was a zero threat sub at the end plus no reward to keenan for coming up (not that I would normally say anything should be awarded for that but if ur gonna give gaudio that advantage....). Overall just shit refs.

Gaudio scored via sweeps and takedowns, with no sub attempts as well as no dominant positions or guard passes. Keenan took his back, had multiple submission attempts, swept into dominant positions, close to the transition to the mount from the back escape Gaudio had as well, and he is voted the loser in a decision? that makes no sense. If someone could explain to me why Gaudio won, I would appreciate it, maybe there is a rule about how to make decisions that I don't know about.

I wonder how these kinds of events fuel Keenan's desire to distinguish himself as American JJ. This was a clear robbery in the way of the Brazilian by Brazilian judges in a Brazilian league and Brazilian sport. If I'm him I'd be equally as fired up about taking ownership of his talents out of self-respect and dignity.

Tyler Goodrich Its not about controlling something or not. The no gi Jiu jitsu has a preference in America because you guys traditionally practice some fighting sports without a gi on. Here in Brazil almost everybody practice gi bjj and the others practice both, by tradition as well.

@@Pedro173401 Thats a very fair point however if you look at things objectively the UFC was founded with a lot of participation by Brazilians and has had numerous Brazilian champions (GOAT Anderson Silva). Can't say either about IBJJF. I do think that there is A LOT of politics behind the IBJJF scene and I'm not saying always, but sometimes I seems like it appears during referee's decisions.

Look at the amount of back control and submission attempts keenan had the whole match, i do not understand how the judges can give such a convenient advantage at the end of the match to rule it in favour of gaudio when he never once did threaten an actual submission

It's all about IBJJF Rules, if you sweep and you opponent falls with a submission position he gets an advantage for attempting. Just carefully see the whole match again and you will understand.

@@franciscojunior3898 yeah I understand the rules My issue is more about why they ended up ruling the match in favour of gaudio as opposed to Keenan given that Keenan's submission attempt was more legitimate and packed more urgency than that lazy footlock thrown in at the end. Like yeah ok, the advantage makes sense, but to win the match cause of that advantage that was given on a lazy submission attempt just doesn't sit right with me (maybe he won cause of another reason, idk. But looking at the match, you definitely have to give it to Keenan)

Well man.....most of the matche's decisions are about the way an athlete fights, so Keenan has that calm and strategic way to fight, Gaudio on the other hand is more explosive, thus it affects on the referees decision you see. Like they would have to see who gave more of a fight.

This match set back gi jiu jitsu. Keenan was the lead innovator of gi jiu jitsu and when they robbed him of this, Keenan threw in the towel. If the Brazilians would've embraced Keenan and his innovative techniques, gi jiu jitsu would be way more popular today than nogi jiu jitsu is. Now we're reverting to Marcelo Garcia's Butterfly Guard which was popularized in the early 2000's and is 20 years old.

When there's a tie in advantages at the end like this due to questionable judging it should go to won the majority of theirs first. Average the times of when they were earned and whoever got theirs closest to the beginning of the match wins. This would encourage more aggressive play early on as well as force competitors to go more desperately for points at the end.
