Anybody gonna recognize that being a sentient being in a place where no sentience is supposed to be present would be utterly agonizing? Agonizing to the point where if there was any other hint of someone who can make decisions like you can you'd want to be with them, because as far as you know they're the only bit of reality you have. No I don't blame Monika for doing anything wrong. She did everything out of fear that at some point you'll leave her because you've "seen" all there is to see out of the programmed characters. When she killed them it was like tearing a piece of paper. It doesn't sound nice but the paper doesn't feel anything. I just want eveyone to take the time to put themselves in Monika's shoes and realize that you would do the same thing if you were put in a place where nothing is real. Besides, she couldn't tell that killing them bothered the player because she doesn't know how to relate to anyone. Technically, she doesn't know how to love, either. She sees love in the programmed characters as "enjoying your company and wanting to be around you." So what you get for her love is being trapped in a room with her because she enjoys your presence and wants to always be around you. She admits that she doesn't know how to love you and that she'll leave you be, which is probably the bravest act of love because not only is she giving up the one figure of sentience she's ever known, she's subjecting herself to live in a fake reality just for you. Yes, Monika is my favorite character. No, I don't have toonophilia. And if you read all of this, thank you for your time. Hopefully we can all find a friend in Monika for the broken soul she is

The game is designed to try and make you forget that Monika is right all along. You refuse to hear it when she gives her totally sensible justification, that it is in fact just a game. When she eventually apologizes to you, it's not because she realizes she was wrong about their autonomous personalities. It's because she realized that you wouldn't be happy unless you got those autonomous personalities back. You wanted to be part of their reality, so you got invested in it, even though it was not real. That's why your heart was broken when the characters got killed in horrific ways. And that's why she's apologizing. Come on, if she really thought they were real now, would she have deleted them again at the end of the game? No! As she states during your long conversation in Act 3, she would never actually kill a person. The thought of it gives her the shivers. What's sitting in front of you during Act 3 is not a sociopathic murderer, as Dan Salvato states in his interview. It's a sweet girl who opened up the horror portion of a video game in order to be part of your life. This song is very reminiscent of how I felt after my first playthrough. I was so heartbroken when I realized what she had done. I was ready to forgive Monika only after she redeemed herself by bringing them back and then saving you. However, what I didn't realize, was that Monika never needed forgiveness. She needed understanding. She needed our admiration for sticking with the game for so long, and not killing herself. She needed our love. Every song made, portrays Monika as an evil murderer, when that is so not the case. You are just as guilty as her for actually deleting her character file, when she didn't even really delete the others. If she is covered with her friends' blood stains, then you are covered with hers. Then again, we can recognize that we didn't even do anything wrong either. It's just a video game. Monika is just a video game character, even though she tries to be more than that to you. And so are Yuri, Natsuki and Sayori. Welcome to psychological horror.

People in the comments have been praising the singing, and yes, it is very impressive, but I would like to say that the editing is almost as good, I just love the effects and the transitions from live action to sprites and back. I believe a great example is when Monika only seems to be on Mc’s jacket at 2:31 but even beyond that, just the camera angles and the COLORS were just perfect. Natsuki, Yuri and Sayori are all really likeable,cute to the point that ppl imagine them as real and were pretty hurt when they're killed. But in their reality, they're just programmed personalities. Monika the only one who has hair color eye color and personality(original personality not the yandere part) similar to the real world ppl. Almost like she was kidnapped from reality,brainwashed and put into a video game. Ppl say that she killed her friends. In her point of view, in their reality, those who are killed don't actually feel pain nor have free wills. They do as their script told them. Otherwise, why would three girls simultaneously fall in love with the same guy at the same time? In our reality too, when we play mmorpg or just any type of multiplayer,don't we just kill or leave our friends for a goal? for a victory? To get what we want? While laughing and chatting. Won't the people who were 'killed' kicked out of battle be frustrated? Yes. No. We never actually thought about it. We just race to the top no matter what it takes. I first heard this 5 years ago and now 5 years later it's still playing in my mind today. Perhaps the greatest song ever done and Chi Chi's singing with yours was a perfect match. I remember being left in tears and even now it still does. It made me feel sorry for Monika even when it reminded of how terrible and tragic my own relationship with my last lover ended after 8 long years but thankfully I didn't go down the dark path that turns boys or girls into the wrong person when they become obsessed to get them back. So in a way, this song helped me combat my inner emotions. Once again, the best song ever done. I believe that this would also work in an Anime adaption as an ending theme too since it's that good.

I find this song interesting to be entirely honest. I'm one of the people who fell very much in love with monika, but seeing this really gets gears turning. Now, me being a tabletop GM, it really gets me to thinking about things on a much deeper level. the interest that comes out of people who love the hell out of monika, and the people who hate her and feel betrayed by her. in a sense, this video has inspired a whole new campaign for me. and the "monika" in that game, along with the one who loves her will be faced with many challenges. this is genuinely exciting

The most terrifying part of this game is that in the end, Monika wasn't the murderer. It was you. And you didn't even manage to kill her properly. Think about it: Monika didn't know Sayori was capable of sentience when she deleted her. Also, the character amplification wasn't an attempt at killing them- it was an attempt at changing the game so that the characters would act differently, altering the plot and giving Monika a window to talk to the player and let him know what was going on. She deleted the characters after they killed themselves- and even then, the characters weren't REAL. They were just code. The only character who could've been counted as a murder victim if deleted was Monika, because she was the only one who was sentient at death. And you killed her. And even worse? Monika isn't fully dead. She was capable of deleting Sayori once she went insane- an act of mercy to both the player and the now psychotic Sayori. She's out there. Without a body. Her consciousness alone forever.

*Spoiler and Rant Warning! SMH, Monika already explained that to her... Sayori, Yuri, and Natsuki are but just like any other program in a Dating-Sim that gives some generic answers to you (The Player), but of course the player gives equal attention and love (i guess) to all four, since they all are characters in a game, and no actual real sentient characters, just one that is seemingly more aware than the other characters, by having meta elements in Monika's and Sayori's texts. Also, If you get the bad ending or most common ending, since Sayori is now President of the Literature Club, she proceeds to delete every character as well...and so you can guess every character in DDLC that gets the title "President of the Literature Club" will kill or delete the other charaters to be alone with you (the player) so it was just Monika's bad luck to be chosen as the first president. _But remember!_ That's just a theory! A *Game Theory* ! *Insert Blank screen...

And even if she did, she's trading those fake lives for you. The player. Aka the only being she's found that has a conscience like her. Again, let me ask you to put yourself in her shoes. You're deciding between three lifeless robots only programmed to say certain things at certain times and another person who can actually think. Most sane people would choose the one who's actually alive. But instead, Monika does the most selfless thing ever and restores the game to it's former glory without her, just so you can be happy. How is that in anyway unremorseful? She realized her mistakes and tried to make things right. If that's not remorseful I don't know what is.

@@cykablyat332 First off, murder only works if the thing "dying" is alive. You using the word murder means you're trying to make this sound worse than it actually is. Secondly, Monika only starts slowly gaining self-awareness throughout the playthrough, meaning she couldn't ask for help the moment you opened the game because she just found out what living was like. But what was the first thing on her mind when she realized she was sentient but didn't realize everything was fake just yet? She felt jealousy because of you giving your attention to the other girls. So using her newfound power, she tweaks them and tries to make them less likable, not realizing that there is no path to choose her in the first place. Time passes, she realizes you haven't moved off of the other girls (which isn't really your fault, considering there's no path for her anyway), and decides that the only way for you to notice her is to get rid of the other girls. By now she's figured out who she is. You say these things as if she never reached out to the player when she in fact did many times. You've played the game six times, so surely you remember when Monika starts spamming pop ups saying "help me" and similar things. When she realizes she's truly the only sentient being in the game, she reaches out to you. The player. The only person she can talk to/trust. Thirdly, she made the joke because she felt good about herself, knowing you're going to find her dead and hopefully come back to her. Of course this backfires, but at the time, her plan is "get rid of Sayori and he'll come to me instead", and everything at the time seems to be going according to plan. The fact that you think I find that kind of joking okay is ridiculous. In no point in my argument did I say joking like that is tolerable in any real life scenario. But you seem to be missing the fact that this is a videogame, and even Monika knows that much.
