DOKIO 80 watt 12 volt Folding Solar Panel Kit

It looks like this solar panel has been replace by a 110 watt version for the same price. In this video I look at how this will work to charge my Lithium battery box and if it makes any noise on the HF bands.

The controller noise may not be much of an issue if hams plan on using 80M and 160M during the evening when those bands have the best propagation. 80M daytime NVIS use may be an issue.

The noise on the bands is pretty bad here in my neighborhood. (Home installed solar) I can actually hear the sun go down or come up. But I live in an hoa in southern Arizona... I do like the mobile solar setups. It's a good solution to not charging it off your vehicle. Thanks for the video! I enjoy your content.

Just about every house but mine has them. I've been told it's the controllers themselves. I've done just about everything I can to try to suppress it. Unfortunately, the hoa's out here support the solar companies and hate ham radio. It is whatit is, I enjoy the challange.

Good video Chuck❗️ I have a Jackery 1000 Solar Generator and two 100 solar saga panels here at home as a back up and it sure comes in handy when the power goes out. They make a little noise but the better solar controller you have the least amount of noise it makes. 73. KV5P

@@KK6USYHamRadioAdventures I did a lot of reader hair before I got mine and the reason I got Jackery is the customer service, warranty, and made out in California were the main reasons. You can buy much cheaper ones but I just don’t think their quality can be beat.

Thats the same brand solar panel I have but I have a 300w. I did call bioenno and the told me that my charge controller would work with there batteries! 👍

Thanks for sharing Chuck. I wonder if wrapping with aluminum foil or in a metal box would help, possible grounding the foil or box to earth. Worth a try before considering another more costly controller

Hey good Ideas there, it was only on bands that are more night time bands so no a problem really. I do have a MPPT controller coming for another project that is supposed to be radio friendly. I will review it once I try it, very small and light but not cheap.
