Almost completely intact already- it’s amazing how Don let an amazing track like this sit on the shelf for nearly a decade!

So, Don wrote this song in 1975. Thanks for posting. There's nothing like hearing the birth of a great song.

Yes. Don actually did write this song way back when in 1975. This is the recording. When Dokken was signed to Elektra Records and was working on Tooth and Nail, the record company wanted a power ballad. So, Don and Jeff Pilson re-worked this song into the anthem that we know and love. Not to mention the absolute brilliant technique of a guitar player they had in George Lynch.

I like it.. should be a boxset with all demos alt versions and foreign bonus materials included
@stephensanchez95907 ай бұрын
They should release all demos and like you said all the tracks on the foreign releases their are a very good amount of songs that are not on the U.S COPIES OF THEIR Catalog, such as dysfunctional, erase the slate, long way from home,lightning strikes again and their is a demo of the maddest hatter before reb Beach was in dokken with Jon Levin playing the solo,and a song called forevermore on the Japanese copy of when heaven comes down that's a great song

They did actually release an album of stuff that was found in Don's garage after having a clean out. A lot of it was stuff that he has forgotten about, and because they had been sitting in there for decades in various degrees of fluctuating temperatures, the reels were in bad shape and had to be baked in order to get anything resembling decent quality out of it, but unfortunately never managed to save all of it, so the story goes.

How or where to hear Pilson singing Alone Again right ?
@SuperHotrod44 жыл бұрын
The best part of this recording is you can finally hear the bass guitar. In my opinion that’s the only thing that lacked in the Dokkens recordings. Listen to back for the attack, hard to hear the bass
@Cobra212452 жыл бұрын
A lot of great metal records from the 80's had questionable production. A lot of people really didn't know how to mix hard rock/heavy metal back then, especially with the bass constantly being drowned out or battling with the guitar... But because these albums had top notch songs and have gone on to become classics, you will cop a lot of hate for saying such things about the production... I feel like the modern scene is the inverse...great production, shite songs.
@sprinterofblack81864 ай бұрын
It truly is a shame that the bass is near inaudible. I'd give anything for Dokken's 80s records to be reissued again but with better sound mixing.

Don Dokken has said that the original version of this has Bobby Blotzer playing drums. Is this the version?
@kingofdragontown96804 жыл бұрын
I don't actually believe anything came of the Dokken lineup with Bobby, Warten, and Juan. Maybe some of the stuff off their new Lost Songs album.
