This band is a side project of 4 members from Gacharic spin with Fuki the singer in unlucky morpheous. Koga the bass player is amazing. Ya Tomo Zo is a great guitarist but she does get buried a lot.

Man, saying Fuki is the "singer of Unlucky Morpheus" is selling her hellishly short. She's been / is in a hell of a lot of projects. Absolutely my favourite singer on this planet.

I thought for a second, that you were going to say the singer reminds you of Fuki from Unlucky Morpheus. The skill in this band is insane. Next time try [KilLeR_x_v2] DOLL$BOXX - Loud Twin Stars (high $pec High Return (2018)) As others have said it's a mix of Fuki and Gacharic Spin. How Gacharic Spin and Fuki came together. Gacharic Spin were having problems with their singer at the time, not turning up to rehearsals and they had a tour booked. They started the tour and the singer didn't turn up. So the members of Gacharic Spin had enough of it, so went on national tv and said that if any one knows the songs they can turn up and sing on stage with them. The next day they got a phone call from Fuki saying she knew all the songs as she was a fan of theirs. So they took Fuki up on the offer and Fuki played most of the tour with them. After it was over, they had enjoyed playing together so much they wanted to do it again. Also Gacharic Spin wanted to do songs that were a bit heavier than the normal Gacharic Spin songs, as a side project. So they started Doll$boxx and asked Fuki to sing for them. Gacharic Spin are more of a pop/punk/funk type of band, a band I really want to like due to the high skills the band have, but it's just not my style of music. All 3 bands have done a concert together Gacharic Spin, Doll$boxx and Unlucky Morpheus in 2019.

I went back and listened to a few more songs looking for a better mix. I listened through a speaker and not on headphones or ear buds. From what I could hear, the songs Sekaiwa Kitto Aiwo Shitterunda (have fun pronouncing that), Shout Down, Dragonet live with Hana drum solo and Monopoly seem to be a bit better mixes for the guitarist Tomo. Again, that was listening through a speaker (sound bar and subwoofer) and not headphones or ear buds. Glad you enjoyed this one as well 🤘😊🤘

The singer is fuki from unlucky morpheus,and They didn’t try to be a metal band, Because they are not a metal band 😓

The guitar is even more buried in the studio version. It's kind of what Tomo-Zo (the guitarist) does, both in Doll$Boxx and Gacharic Spin: She takes a step back from where you'd expect to hear the guitar, leaving the thrashing to the others, especially the bassist. A louder guitar would likely drown out a lot of the detail that makes their sound so unique. And it frees her up to play more creative lines and come at you from the most unexpected angles. Maybe try SHOUT DOWN for a clearer guitar sound (and more growling!), or that unnamed live instrumental by Gacharic Spin that's been floating around. She's really prominent in that one. And since it's an instrumental, it might just as well be Doll$Boxx you're hearing there.

Doll$boxx is not a metal band. That is probably the source of your misunderstanding. I cannot put their music in a box - there are elements of rock, pop, jazz, dance music, metal is sometimes in the mix too. And I agree, the guitarist (Tomo-zo) would deserve much better sound mix.
@nomusician47373 жыл бұрын
I think Maximum the Hormone but the reversed is one of the better explanations I've heard. They both are somewhat organised chaos. About the mixing. They sometimes do the opposite of how you usually produced, using the guitar as a background to the keys instead of the keys being the background for the keys. They've got songs with a more 'normal' mix as well. Tomo-zo (the guitarist) also uses some weird pedal most of the tapping in this song that makes it really hard to distinguish between what is guitar and what is keys at times.

Definitely should check out the MV for this. For one thing, it may help answer weather this mix was intentional or not and for another, it's a really cool video.

Yeah weird everyone is doing the live for this song. The MV is pure reaction bait. They're great live, I've seen gacharic spin in person, but it doesn't come through video cameras very well

It's true that they dont let the guitars carry the music, but they are still a metal band for me, metal is about character. Their aggressive character is metal. You don't have to sound like most metal band to be metal. It's the attitude. Personally though, I would love to hear the guitars raised higher too. I guess im just used to hearing metal mixes with big guitar sounds. But I love their music for their unique sound. And in the end I would always find myself going back to their music from time to time. You gotta listen to their later mini album though, the guitars are louder there and the music is heavier in general.

Dude, it seems someone really mislead you, affecting your expectations. First of all Doll$Boxx isn't a metal, not even a hard-rock band, they are a crossover rock band, with a lot of influences, including "electropop". Also, due this band is a side project (integrated in 2012 by the union of four Gacharic Spin members and Fuki, the singer of Unlucky Morpheus) the band isn't as big or old as the girls main projects.

This is a great band, I've been waiting for you to get to them! My favorite from them is actually Dragonet w/ Hana Drum Solo, I think from this same concert. I think the live version of Take My Chance is much better than the original, so I don't think you'd like the video any better. To my ear, they sound like J-pop influenced metal, and I think they lean away from the guitar heavy sound because there's a lot more competition-- they seem to stand out, or away from, the other female J-metal bands. (At least to me, but what do I know. LOL) The main draw for me is Sano Hana on drums and her occasional vocals (more often growls, haha). For stronger guitars, you might want to pick something off High $pec. Sekaiwa Kitto Aiwo Shitterunda or Shout Down tend to be my favorites off the album (more like EP)

Definitely watch the official Take my Chance vid, it was their first vid I saw and the reason I became a fan of Doll$Boxx. IMO out of all the female Japanese bands the bass player Koga is the best!

And like others have said, you should definitely check out Gacharic Spin, which makes up the majority of Doll$boxx. For Gacharic Spin I would recommend their songs Gold Dash and Mindset.

I'm surprised you haven't done Doll$boxx before. So The lead singer doesn't remind you of the lead singer of Unlucky Morpheus?? Lol.. This is a collaborative act (started in 2012) between Gacharic Spin and Fuki from Unlucky Morpheus / Lightbringer. (so you have seen them before, kinda lol) It started when Gacharic Spin' s lead singer (Armmy) left. They haven't done anything together since 2018.

fyi: It's pronounced Dollsbox :) You're right about guitar being buried in the mix on this song. But tbh, this song is not about the guitar, so I don't actually mind it. During the part, where you expected the guitar to be more present, she was playing octaves and no power chords, so on the live version you wouldn't ever get a metal like sound without them adding a second guitarist or using samples. D$B is not a metal band (they only have some heavier parts once in a while). As other commenters already said, they are not catering to a specific style. Also, during this concert on other songs, the guitar is pretty prominent in the mix. Maybe you should try a studio version next to get a better feel for what they are about. My recommendation though would be to do Gacharic Spin MindSet (Doll$Boxx minus the vocalist). You probably get a kick out of it ;) Cheers

The guitar sound is low to emphasize the synth. What made you think they're a metal band? The screams? Those double bass kicks? 😁 No, they're not a metal band. You right, you should check out the official music video of this song. If you need to compare, may be you can compare them to Band Maid instead of Lovebites.

That's exactly my problem with this band. They can't decide if they do pop or rock and the mixture of both doesn't work for me.
@delbomb31313 жыл бұрын
They've decided what they're about, you just don't like it. And that's fine. Not everything is for everyone. This is a side project for everyone involved, so it's a free place for em to just try stuff and have fun with ideas that don't fit in the box of their primary projects.
