The US are evolving from the state of a federative republic to becoming more and more centralized, and the next transition will be to a principate, where power will belong to the military and federalism will become extinct. This transition will be accelerated by the coming global crisis that will be as deep as the Great Depression. The truth is republics are finite, they are best when they are born and they degrade over time. You can't enter the same river twice, and you can't wish your way out of this situation. On the other hand, new republics will form there where will be favorable conditions for them in a post-crisis world, most notably, in Russia and Ukraine - providing that Russia becomes less centralized, which takes destruction of the Moscow despotism. For example, Russian Far East is rich in various resources and its population is very scarse - eventually American settlers could establish their charter cities there, and the locals will benefit from what Westerners will bring - technologies and traditions of freedom
