Queen Victoria started the “white is bridal” trend because when she was a young woman wearing white was a symbol of elegance and wealth because it’s so hard to keep clean! Before that there was no real “bride” color, you just kind of got married in the nicest clothes you owned. If anything, blue meant “purity/virginity,” which is why the Christian Virgin Mary figure is almost always painted wearing blue.

Once upon a time, women would wear the color(s) that symbolized their hopes for the future, if they could afford it. If they couldn't, they'd just wear their church clothes. Single-use wedding dresses are a purely 20th-Century luxury.

I love it! The mirror project could be used as home deco. Instead of find your seat your family’s last name and welcome, mirrors are great with dry erase markers so very easy to write and rewrite notes on!

This was really fun to watch. I'm getting married in 5 days and I made something similar to Becky's diy. Instead of three different sized hoops I made a mickey mouse head with embroidery hoops that I painted white and added fake flowers to hang on the wedding arch. I also got a cheap collage picture frame for the seating chart. I hope you guys are doing well and I hope you have a wonderful week.

I did my friends wedding from mostly the dollar store. I only bought two things from Hobby Lobby and I used the coupons for those items. Everyone was amazed. Thought we spent a lot of money. Her sisters took all of the centerpieces I made home for their decor afterwards. Lol.

White came into wedding fashion because of Queen Victoria and stayed a trend since having a pure white gown back then was a clear indication of wealth. They were super expensive to make, and even more expensive to keep clean, often the dresses would end up passed down!!

White for a bridal color is a class system dating back to the royals in England. A white gown shows wear and stains very easily, so the wealthy were wearing white gowns as a sign of their wealth and that their dress was disposable.

So much stuff of mine came from the dollar store and Michaels!(They always have 40-50% off coupons, grab a bunch of friends and make them each use one to get full use!) All my favours came from the Dollar Store, little bubble wands that I wrapped twine around and put custom heart stickers with our initials on the lids. Cost us $40 in total for everything needed for 120 favours!
