Candy. paper products (paper towels, toilet paper, napkins, etc), cleaning products, pens, hand tools (they are good enough for around the house use), books, games, glasses & coffee mugs, reading glasses, light bulbs, and more. I don't buy batteries, bread, most potato chips, pet food, frozen veggies, most toys, and a few other things. Shop there regularly and it doesn't take long or cost much to find the real bargains.

Sorry but The Dollar Tree by my house is top notch. They sell over stocked bread and also Thomas bagels, english muffins and bagels for $1 instead of the grocery store for $4 and they are fresh! Dollar Tree is the only place I find the word search books my 86yr old dad likes. I understand you can't buy everything at Dollar Tree and I usually buy the same items every time I go. Especially foil cake pans, Sour green apple and blue raspberry Kool-Aid sugar free drink mixes. Big cans of Half lemonade/half tea from Arnold Palmer and the Cinnabon cinnamon rolls for the microwave.

@@devodavis6747 I know a few people who raid the dollar trees for various wood and glass things that they laser etch at the libary maker space and then sell for a decent chunk of cash...some used to do so and now by things for the same price as at store pickup by the case for them. I've seen a lot of etsy shops that are basically the same thing as well.

I had Duracell and Energizer leak and it took a lot of scrubbing with baking soda to get my electronics working again. Cheap batteries aren't much different nowadays in leakage, I find. I go to the Dollar Store for kitchen wares and other cheap disaposable items. It is what it is.

Just becareful what you buy. Dollar Tree is the true dollar store! Great for greeting cards, cheap napkins and party supplies. I picked up a LED mini flashlight for a buck. Batteries last great in remotes and don't leak! They have all kinds of plastic containers that I paid way more for at walmart. I get Amor All for the car. Chips and candy at a great price! Buy smart!

Depends on what you buy. There are some great deals, but also some clunkers along the way. Party supplies are a great bargain, also cleaners and stuff like food containers, kid craft supplies, candles, cards, and incense. Where else can you get a Mylar helium balloon for a dollar? The iffy part comes mostly in electronics, tools, and food. Headphones never last too long, and yes, the tools are not the best, but will work in a pinch. The food is a mixed bag. Some products are great, and worth a dollar, especially the juices and drinks. The canned food, just make sure that what you are buying is not more than what you might pay for it in a grocery store. The chili is a bargain, so are the tamales, but tuna and vegetables may not be. There are also a couple of products in the freezer section that might not be of the same quality as a brand name. Just use a little discrimination, and you can really make it worth your while.

Notice this def mainly applies to dollar tree & not the 99 cents store 😂 I know someone who works at dollar tree & the company will only sell things worth 1$ but the 99 cents store have things worth over 1$ that cost over 10$ but you get 1/3rd or even half of the price!

Try working for them..... Uhg😰😢😭 trucks are never on time. Items dont come on a regular. Constantly short staffed. 5 hour shifts. No crowd control. Schedules that change every 2 days to every other day. And if you can fight threw all that if you have 1 bad day they tell you that corporate will just find someone else who can do it. I've seen lower turn over rates at fast food places.

Dollar tree has become even less favorable to me, because ever since they raised their prices to $1.25, The quantity of some items has gone down while the prices have gone up. Someone posted on TikTok a video showing before and after comparisons of items like razors, toothbrushes, Etc. where originally they were packaged as five for a dollar, but now they are four for $1.25.

Some of it is common sense. I shop for superficial items that have found be great and my dollar general. For instance I used to by a very popular name brand coal tar shampoo but started buying the inexpensive brand at dollar general. They both had the same ingredients in the same amounts. And both worked equally well yet the dollar brand was over half the price. As well, yes you don’t want to buy expired eggs and milk but most people don’t know that expiration dates can be arbitrary and used to promote more buying. A scam in itself. The biggest dollar store scam is product amounts. Read the weight measurements on the packaging. I have even gone so far as to weigh product amounts on a scale at home. Often if for instance you are buying something like potato flakes in a box, the box will look the same size as the supermarket ones, yet the contents are far less. This scam exists even at the big stores. Mostly by manufacturers. You see the the big bag of potato chips in the new bigger size only to find it the same amount inside just a bigger bag filled with more air. The best way to shop is to always compare price per/oz

Becoming a smart shopper is not hard but it does take a little work. My wife and I eat very, very well yet our monthly bill can be as low as less than $300. Sometimes a lot less. There are many sale items, not all, that you can still use a manufacturers coupon. As well taking a minute to look at price stickers can benefit greatly. Many items are marked wrong. Lastly, most people consider food prices fixed. Nothing in life is fixed. From clothing to car to food. I can not tell you how many times I’ve simply asked for a lower price and gotten it. Supermarkets have profit margins with flexibility. I have gone so far as to ask the butcher if he thought a piece of meat was worth the price they were asking and without hesitation he slapped a 50% off sticker on it. Also look for expired meat (not chicken or fish). A slightly darker steak scarier folks and then they go to restaurant and pay a fortune for and aged steak. I tend to mock dry age most beef for a week after buying it to start with. Cheese as well. Someone told me they threw out their cheese when it expired. I looked at them and asked “why did you buy aged cheddar if you are going to throw it away”

There still are some things worth their cost at Dollar Tree, things you might want to buy in small quantities or to sample. There used to be quite a few actual bargains like the LA Awesome cleaning products where they could become a staple for a home. Those are now gone. Last week I went to buy a bottle of laundry detergent that is packaged for Dolartree/Greenbriar by the maker in the US. The size had dropped by 1/3rd - AS Dollar Tree increased the price from $1 to $1.25. That's not shrinkflation. It's an 87% price increase, an indisputable ripoff!! I looked over the remaining made for Dollar Tree cleaning peoduts and saw the same thing. Every one has been noticeably downsized and their prices increased by 25%. The change has eliminated the price advantage they had over Walmart's house brands.

I think most people go in there looking for cute craft/ holiday items to decorate their house with or for party wear. Nobody expects the big name brands to be a great value at the dollar store.
