Sounds like 8 meals (2 meals a day for 4 days) for $5 for me... I'm in a pinch guys. Don't judge.
@angiesmith2877
@angiesmith2877 4 жыл бұрын
I definitely understand being in a pinch, but this is only about 400 calories per serving, so you would only be getting 800 calories per day eating like this. Adding some rice could help bulk up your menu a bit.

I'd recommend eating it in 3 days rather than 4 for the best quality and cleaniness of the food, but I also say, add some rice to it, and buy some kind of fresh vegetable that you can find that is relatively cheap. It'll bump the price up, but will also give you alot more nutrition, hopefully better flavor, but more importantly, more balance.

Good god, comment section here so snotty with "my body is my temple" BS. These are cheap meals for people short on cash, it doesnt help to blame the poor for being poor. There are millions of people in this country who live in food deserts and the closest food store is a dollar tree or a dollar general and wolf here is giving everybody great recipes if that's what you can afford. Not everybody is got a farmers market within walking distance or reliable transportation.

Incisive Commenter poverty is a choice. With the invention of the internet and all the free information in this world it is a choice to not learn something that will help you get a job. In fact many companies are now hiring people without degrees that can do the jobs that idiots paid almost 100,000 dollars for. There are plenty of jobs that pay good money with no education that people refuse to do. Everyone wants to work at McDonald’s and make 20 dollars an hour. Come on. Think about what you say idiot. There are 4000 jobs waiting to be taken working for the state of Texas as a prison officer. 38 grand a year. That’s not millionaire status but it’s not poor. Being poor is a choice idiot.

Exactly. Portion sizes today compared with 50-75 years ago are ridiculous. I've watched documentaries and other channel videos about comparing portion sizes, and it's easy to see why we have the problems with weight, heart disease and diabetes in this country. It's not the portion sizes in the video that's unrealistic but what we've come to think of as a portion size.

@@davedragomir6632 You don't need large volumes of food to feel full. If you're focused on how full your plate is, you need to look at what you're eating and the nutrition you're getting from it. If you're a big eater, you'll get used to having less (but satisfying) food if you make the right changes. I include eggs in my diet because they keep me going, whereas a carb-heavy meal makes me feel like crap an hour later and then I'm hungry again shortly thereafter.

I wish I had been able to find this channel a few years ago. I was in Middle School and my dad was barely getting paid at work, so the majority of the food was free almost-expired food from food closets. The rest was from dollar tree, stuff my mom’s friends would give us, stuff the town would hand out to families in need around holidays, or even some food I’d sneak home from school.

You could turn this into some excellent Breakfast Burritos with only 2 minor changes, and 1 (or 2 with some optional salsa) extra ingredient: + Ingredient: Package of flour tortillas + Optional ingredient: Salsa to top the burrito Changed steps 1) Instead of baking, just keep stirring until the mixture is scrambled together 2) Add a portion of the scrambled mixture to the middle of a tortilla, sprinkle on more cheese, roll into burrito form If desired, spoon a little salsa on top of the mixture before rolling up the burrito !DEVOUR! The tortillas will add to the fullness of your breakfast guests. Might even be enough to get another serving or 2 out of this.

Thanks Wolfe. I appreciate, as well as many thousands of others, what you are REALLY trying to explain/educate us about. Frugality & acceptance. Everyone is frugal to a point, but the acceptance of something, (a product), that is less than what we think is good enough, is oftentimes the thing that causes us all to overspend. I, me, myself am so very guilty of that. I watch your videos of support & education for "The People" that you are trying to help, & I am re-instilled with hope, about the thought, that everyone can teach someone or help someone, do something to better their lives or conserve assets to move farther than where they are now. Bless you & Mrs. Wolfe for your efforts! Unfortunately, those efforts will fall on SOME deaf ears. (But not most of us). The majority of us are hearing you. Thanks again. TII

Even in his videos that teach skills and the how's of cooking, he acknowledges the real-life limitations people have when it comes to expenses and creates recipes that aren't hard on the wallet.
