I collected them outside and when it warmed up tons of bugs came out! What a mess?!

After collecting the pinecones put the on a tray and place them in a low heat oven for about 17 minutes. The heat will kill the bugs. I use a blow dryer to remove any other dead bug bodies inside the pinecones
