You can use Rustoleum Never Wet 2 step spray to make your rug weather better. Also if your design is going to be black and you use a stencil you can use black Flex Seal for a more lasting design. I still use Rustoleum Never Wet to seal everything in but I have heard it is not necessary when using the Flex Seal. I wonder how designs would hold up if you sealed the entire design with the clear Flex Seal? Maybe I will try it sometime and let you know. Thank you for sharing. They carry some of the fabric glue at dollar tree, it's in a brown bottle, maybe Mrs Eileen's? Can't remember the brand.
