I have cleaned out the cabinet I use for my pantry. I bought all my container mostly from Walmart,some from Dollar Tree.I will e putting it all back tomorrow my containers are clear and teal....your pantry looks great Emily!

One tip - when I transfer things like rice or Bisquick, for example, from their bags or boxes to plastic containers, I always cut out the directions from the box and put them in the new container.

I prefer to put the product info, directions and/or info into a small unused snack-size bag so that any "cooties" from the packaging don't get into my containerized food. Also easy to read through the bag.

Or you can keep the info in a folder or binder. Those directions don't change. Also, Alexa can probably tell you what you want to know.

We all know not many of the pantry reorganization videos actually put back all the food they remove from such nice pantries, to make it "look good". Not many have assorted types of pasta sauce jars, etc., either! We buy what's on sale, not what looks good in a nice regimented row for our pantry. So, THANK YOU for being real like the rest of us! We keep a printed running list on a clipboard inside the pantry cupboard of all extras stored in the basement so we won't have to make multiple trips. Check what's low, bring a box, toss in whatever's needed and haul it up the stairs. Easy enough, and you know what you have at all times. (Though it helps if there's only one person bringing up the stuff all the time----the responsible one who crosses off what she brings upstairs, too.... ahem.) Also included on the info sheet are use by dates. Something hard to keep track of if you put box/bag contents in other containers. Who wants a mouthful of stale crackers?

For mouthwash we use the Dollar Tree oil clear glass bottle, it looks great, right now we have plastic cups, but soon I'll be getting clear shot glasses and will personalize them with our sand blaster

Oh my, your before pantry is almost identical on my pantry now. I gotta start moving :) a lot of people decant their packaged dry goods into containers. Do you ever worry about not having expiration dates on them?

If there is a package with multiple items in it I recycle the boxes and place the items in bins. It takes up much less room if you get rid of extra packaging. I have two of those lazy Susans that I made a while ago. I also have the Shelf risers made by stacking two by fours. Hubby bought them and have them cut for free at the store for my request. I have a set in the pantry and a set on my spice shelf. Great minds think alike! LOL. Great job and great video

Good morning Emily, Gathered a few tips from your video and thought I'd pass on a to to you. Never store your potatoes and onions near each other. Seems one of them (I don't remember which and I am not a scientist) gives off a gas which causes the other "age" more quickly. The potatoes get soft and mushy (now that's a scientific word). 😀

Yes you did a great job I wish I had a pantry I used to but I had to move so now I've had to come up with different ways of organizing stuff and I'm like you every time I have a little bit of money I go and buy something else so it can make my life much easier since I have a little kitchen now and no pantry I'm hoping eventually I can get somewhere better where I have a pantry again that just makes your life much easier when you have one and I like that deal that you had that you folded that you could put something underneath it thought was a great idea to

I was a single mother of three kids raising them by myself work two jobs and it never ever occurred to me to look at KZbin videos for organization ideas I always went to the store and bought whatever I could afford but it never occurred to me to look up organization ideas now that my kids are grown and moved out of their house and I am married I am able to afford more things than I did when they were little I really don't need to buy in bulk I buy very very little bit groceries it's just my husband and I so I use these ideas in my art room

I would only put onions and other food in containers specifically made for storing food. You mentioned putting onions in new trash cans. Just trying to keep you safe.

Nice job. When you pour oatmeal and Bisquick and things that need directions do you cut out the directions and tape it to the container or what do you do about that?

Sherry Dufrenne depending on what it is, I usually tape it under the bottom or on the back. Some have taped it on the lids. Hope this helps thx

And I write the expiration date with dry erase marker on the top of the container. I’m kind of OCD about expiration dates. 🙈

Sherry Dufrenne I do! I just use scissors, cut out just the direction area, and place in the container on top. Or if it’s a container that will always and only used for I.e., oatmeal, it can be written out on an envelope sticky label and put on the lid.

Wow..turned out really well... I'm looking for some ideas and containers to add more to my small pantry.. I recently bought similar containers that you used for your cereal and pretzels. I haven't used them yet. My question to you is do they really keep the cereal and pretzel type stuff fresh so they they don't go stale. Do you have any thoughts on how long it stays fresh in those containers. There are only 2 of us, so it takes awhile before we would eat a whole box of cereal or whole bag of potato chips... In the fall we start to stock our shelves up for winter. We live in a very little town set in the middle of the Huron National Forest. So during the fall our thing is to can what we have grown and to stock up when the stores do a major sale. We have to travel about 100 miles to get to a major grocery store. Nothing will make you get your pantry, and every cabinet in your house, cleaned and organized faster than pantry moths! We got them from some dry pet food and they went from one to one hundred almost overnight. It's taken more than six months to get them out of my house. Now absolutely everything that has any kind of wheat or grain in it is stored in jars or tightly sealed plastic containers. No more open boxes of rice, cereal, pasta, etc., left sitting on shelves. I never want to go through that again!
