Hey Sistas ! Today's video is all about our Dollar Tree DIY hardwood flooring. Currently we are renting our house, and although we are very thankful for having a floor in general, we really don't like the flooring that this house originally had. So with that being said, we are so excited to share with you guys the before and after of our new floor !

This came out amazingly! I was just about to cash out on peel and stick vinyl floor planks that mimic wood floors. I didn’t even think about contact paper! We’re about to move into a rental and the bathroom floors are ATROCIOUS!!!! I’ll definitely be trying this 1st. Thank you for the idea and tutorial!!!

To keep it from scratching or getting a hole, put two layers of polyurethane over the top. And use a blow dryer and a pin to poke the hole and use the heat from the blow dryer for a smooth finish.

Thank you for a wonderfully informative video.I'm so impressed you followed through with your idea. It looked like back breaking work, but your young, I hope you recovered quickly. I loved the way your floor looked after you laid the contact paper. What a terrific idea, right in front of our face, all this time! I just never put two and two together!! My husband is retired military. In the 48 years we've been married, we've moved 🤔 approximately 33 times, stateside and in Europe. I have the arthritic battle scars to prove it, lol. If only I knew this trick back in the day. My daughters and I would have papered everything, lol. Contact paper has been around a long long time,! I hear since dinosaur's roamed the earth!! 🤔 😳 😂😂😂

It actually looks a 1000x better than I thought it would. But my questions. Wasn't it very slick? Maybe causing falls? How long did it actually last? Did it start peeling off with first spill?

An answer to some questions would be nice, because I'd like to know how it held up. Probably no need to mop over it...but, just a good dusting.

@sistasistaaa2464
@sistasistaaa2464 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you 🙏🏽 ! We literally redid one section near the fridge only because there was a scrape due to an incident with a 6 year old and skates 🤦🏽‍♀️... but other than that, everything is still sticking perfectly fine! As for spills and dirt, we haven’t had any issues other than minor fading which is near the garbage can in the corner . Someone suggested putting polyurethane over the top to prevent holes and scratches, so that would probably be a good idea for the next time we redo it. Overall, it’s still hanging on nice and strong !

@chrinamint
@chrinamint Жыл бұрын
Why do people always put such negative comments? Obviously this is not meant to be an actual permanent floor redo. They are renting and they just want a simple fake hardwood floor while they're renting. Y'all are being too dramatic! Perfectly cute legit way to get a temporary cute floor to look at while they're living there. Or if they can't afford the real thing at the moment. Also for everybody saying it's going to tear in 5 minutes there's plenty of people who have posted videos doing this very thing and have two year updates etc. Quit being such naysayers. If you don't want to do it then don't. Nobody thinks they're going to redo their actual house floors for real and forever with this. Constructive criticism is good or tips... I like the person that said to put poster board under it for the tile seems underneath. That's a great idea. I'll be doing this in my bathroom.

Wait a minute, You have to admit. The floors in most rental apartments are somewhat ugly. Lol they could use a little touch up. Also I was told if a person is living in an apartment for a while, they should be able to make the place feel & look like home. I understand if a person rents an apartment and destroys the area and shows that they do not care but things like this that are harmless and can be removed should be allowed. This woman obviously cares about how her apartment looks. I see it as no problem. Now, Maybe the rules are different in the county I am from but other than that This whole project was a great idea!!! ♥️🥰 keep up the good work!

So, I do not recommend this... After about 5 mops, your corners are going to peal. Doesn't the dollar tree sell flooring? If going that route, I would get the flooring or go to Walmart and still get flooring at a decent price. Cheaper is not always better... You can end up investing more money and time then you wanted.
