I saw your original video and loved it so much that I did it myself. Same contact paper, in the same color. I thought my update with different experiences would be helpful to others. Mine was done not too long after you did yours, so maybe 9 or so months. We have two dogs and a cat and live in a house. I used the paper to cover wood flooring because I hated the orange color and a leaky fridge had rotted some of the planks to a black, warped mess. I have not been babying this flooring at all. Mine has scratches from the dogs nails if they get too long. This wasn't so much an issue before COVID with regular nail trimmings. Now we're doing them less regularly so they get a bit long and do some damage when they're playing or excited. Probably the best thing one found about this floor is that it's really easy to patch! If they tear it, I use a blade to cut the wrinkled bit off to smooth out the tear, then I patch it with a similar piece of the leftover roll. You can't even see the patches unless you're actively looking, and even then I lose them myself (and I did them!) I do have peeling, but that's 100% my fault. Under some appliance edges and in corners I did not sufficiently clean the floor prior to putting down the paper, so the seal was absolutely terrible. This was my first time using contact paper so lesson learned. Overall I'm super pleased with how is holding up!! For such a simple, cheap solution I definitely recommend it. Everything she says stands for me as well. Shoes are fine and water is nothing to this paper. I hope this helps some one!!

That’s amazing Ashley! I haven’t had to patch my floor but it’s great to know it works! I totally agree that any lifting is most likely from sticking it to a, not completely clean, surface. It makes my whole week to know someone else is enjoying this as much as I do! So glad I could help!😊

Same for me! I did it as well but I used a white and grey one(rustic). I do have two dogs and there is wear in the high traffic areas but it just makes it more rustic. It seems like it's natural.

Wow! That’s great! My mini dachshund is 15 and has several herniated plates, so I have to keep his nails short, so I would never have known pet nails wear it down! Good to know an antique looking color hides it😊 Thanks for your input Katie!

Next time try buying the none residue blue painter's tape and do your floor in that first, then put this on top of it. This way if it's more than a year you should have less risk of having the adhesive tackiness that is left behind, or if there is some it's just usually in smaller sections, and you can use goo gone or WD40 to cleanse those leftover adhesive places.
@RaisedWild
@RaisedWild 3 жыл бұрын
That definitely sounds like a great idea if you are overly nervous about a leftover sticky residue! Thanks for watching Shiree and have a wonderful week!

This is an awesome temporary fix. I own my home and I'm doing a few updates. I want to redo one of my bathrooms. I'm excited to see how it comes out. Would you suggest and exactly knife for cutting the corners and around the toilet?
@RaisedWild
@RaisedWild 3 жыл бұрын
A box cutter would work fine as well. The sharper the better😊 I would also suggest using silicone caulking around the toilet edges if you’re concerned about moisture (leaky toilet).

And it’s inexpensive so if you don’t like it you can just get rid of it. It’s especially helpful if you want expensive flooring but are unsure of which color you’d prefer. Thanks for watching Fran😊

What is the difference between contact paper and peel and stick wallpaper?
@RaisedWild
@RaisedWild 2 жыл бұрын
I have personally never used peel and stick wallpaper. That’s because one of the main differences is price. Peel and stick wallpaper is way out of my budget for a project that’s not permanent. However, if I found a pattern I absolutely loved and was going to do the extra effort and seal it with polyurethane, I would definitely give it a try.

This lighter wood grain color was from Target. It’s Contact brand shelf liner in the color “Driftwood”. Unfortunately, it looks like Target and/or Contact doesn’t carry this color anymore.

Is there any damage to wood floors after removing contact paper? If it was just applied straight without any sealant?
@RaisedWild
@RaisedWild 3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t personally covered wood flooring, but I probably wouldn’t try it if I was renting and wanted my deposit back. Others have suggested laying poster boards over existing floors and then applying the contact paper to the poster boards. I hope that helps😊 Have a wonderful week!

Yes it is slippery when wet. But nothing a rug or mat won’t fix.😊 Thanks for watching!
