Flashpoint is phenomenal. Every part of it works so well and the value of the boxes is unmatched. The first thing we did after opening the Spartan Edition was play a 4 player free-for-all on the two game mats included in the box. Absolutely the best first game experience I've had in all my years table top wargaming haha Great video! Thanks for sharing!

Loved the intro. The original halo came around at a very meaningful point in my life, it became a really important game to me. I didn’t care that it was considered dumb and casual, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the soundtrack was huge The rest of the video was the usual gold. The measuring segment was pure gold and I enjoyed the rest of the review, particularly the weaponry aspects

It's almost surreal how many emotions a single piano sting can make me feel, holy moly. Halo's how I met and connected with arguably most of my friends growing up, and Mantic never cease to amaze. Gonna be picking this one up here soon, I'm really happy this game turned out so good.

Went to see Creed, Finger Eleven, and Tonic earlier this year (great show). Finger Eleven started the show...wasn't a big fan of their music but they were pretty good live. They started their set with the Halo theme and that just perfectly set the night for me.

What's a "piano sting"?
@darkjak56521 күн бұрын
@SvartElric9 I don't know the official music definition, but a musical sting is usually a loud, singular note or chord to accentuate something. In this case, the beginning beat of the Halo theme in the intro. It's iconic, recognizable, and reminds me a lot of many days on Xbox Live as a teen.

Played a couple games now. Slayer and stronghold. Tried out Spartans and elites. I agree the keywords were a bit overwhelming and I don't know if we still have the hang of explosive weapons or AP1 on multiple hits on higher AR. Fantastic game once you get over the initial hill. The discussion element with line of sight has made some memorable moments

If anyone is looking for a good resource to expand their game, the old Halo Ground Command game has a lot of free STL's that fans made to keep the game alive after Spartan Studios shut down. Just going to have to do some scaling to convert them to Flashpoint size.
@BeepBoopFriendo21 күн бұрын
I'm really interested in the idea of a respawn / reinforcement mechanic for tabletop. Too many games, whether skirmish or full wargame, have these huge exchanges of damage in the first few turns and then start to lose their oomph by the start of turn 4. Having forces respawn seems like it would shake things up nicely and keep it tense all the way to the end.

Fun video, it definitely looks like a fun game to try out. When O.G. Halo came out on PC, I played on a server where everyone had a sniper rifle in the game, but the sniper rifle fired tank rounds. That was a ton of fun. Skeleton, the person who modded the server, tweaked a few other weapons too. The pistol fired sniper rounds. It was very difficult to capture a flag when everyone was shooting tank rounds all the time. 😅

I really wished they had done a game based around the campaign rather than multiplayer. Where are my miniature grunts, jackals, ODST, Hunters, and the FLOOD? The spartans are cool, but I would have preferred a more diverse game, and have a story to build a campaign around. How is the longevity/replay value of Flashpoint? What is the reason for playing again, just maintaining a winning streak? Wins and loses are kind of meaning less. I'd like to have had the pressure, that if my humans don't win this game the covenant capture the index of a halo.

I don't know anything about Halo but Mantic just announced a new faction for Wave 3. Vehicles might come either in Q2 or Q3. Mantic is not a large company so they will drop stuff bit by bit depending on the sales. For Deadzone (the engine it's based on) has many factions and it works out great.

Pretty much ignored this at launch but after seeing it, it definitely looks good if someone puts it in front of me. Nice for some quick little games. Been really hooked recently on the skirmish game 7TV and recommend looking into it to cinematically play out any genre film & you can bring in your own minis (so you can put Roddy Piper in some action TV show if you like). Also I was hoping with the first tape measure death in the video invoked a Wilhelm scream.

Oh, I fondly remember all of my times many, many years ago, playing Halo for about 2 seconds at a time, as my buddy Rayla, a quite manic ex-marine, would snipe me through the skull from on high immediately upon respawn, as she giggled maniacally next to me on the sofa. Every. Single. Goddanged. Time. 😑 For about 10-15 minutes until I would go, “Ok, knock it the fuck off and come smoke another bong, ye ahole.” And yes, very much still fun!!! 😆😆😆 (And I totally had to message her while watching to say this looks freakin’ hilarious, as well!)

So I bought a bunch of an indie game developer's skirmish game stuff recently. I had hoped to get one of my kids interested in playing it. No one I've talked to has any interest in it. What do you do for/with "dead" games? Would be interested in seeing a video on all the stuff that MS Paints thought was going to be interesting or fun but dissolved into nothingness. Difficulty: Not super into table top gaming; I'm more of a painter.
