The dixie stampeed in south carolina is still open and running like crazy everyday. I loved to go there every time I went on a field trip from school. Great memories that will never happen again for me, but someone else might have that memory for me. Please keep dixie stampeeds open by going to there shows.

Also: In addition to it being a flea market for like a year, it also claimed to possess the 'world's largest pizza vendor showcase anywhere'. Or so the sign claimed, it was cut off at the end. Way to entice people to go to a shell of an attraction. The outlets nearby bought the lot in 2012 IIRC and are currently building an extension over the property along with more parking space.

A fourth location, in Orlando, Florida, opened in June 2003 and ceased operations in January 2008 when the property was sold to the outlet mall across the parking lot so they could expand. However, the sale never went through. The building is still owned by "Dixie Stampede LLC". The company is currently looking for a new buyer for the property. In November 2012 the building has been demolished.

This property was sold to the outlet mall next door. However, due to the down economy never developed the expansion of the Mall. Now the mall is in Bankruptcy. This is the only Dixie Stampeed that went out of business.

This place shut down due to the fact Porter Wagonner owned it and when he passed away Dolly (partner with hershend family entertainment) who owns Dollywood and several theme parks thought the US and 3 other Dixie stampedes in Pigeon Forge and in Branson and in Myrtle Beach SC did not want this location, It has since been demolished!

No it's an or was a Dinner show with live horses and things, kind of a reproduction of the civil war...you either sat on the blue or red side. They still have a Dixie Stampede in Branson, Mo, it is a GREAT show. Been many times, they have a special show at Christmas time as well. I don't know what happened to this one, but you can check google for the one in Branson. There is one at DollyWood in Pigeon Forge, TN. as well.

Your excursions are very interesting. I just wanted to let you know that a part of the building is already demolished. ( a corner on the I-4 side.) It is happening right now. Today was the first day I saw bulldozers taking out the corner.

It was rented out (After Dolly left) to a pizza place for a while. it was called the world largest pizza parlor. Obvioulsly The rent was way too high for them to make a profit. and the Pizza place closed probably about a month or so before you went there

This was a beautiful place, so sad that it did not survive. I actually have a brochure from Dixie Stampede. A few years ago before they tore it down, they were advertising the building as a Flea Market, which Irked me to no end, that such workmanship was being ruined by idiots hawking crap. Orlando area better wise up and give companies that want to build business breaks and keep those that are there already. We should be preserving rather than destroying.

It was a dinner show. They used horses in it. Orlando Premium Outlets bought it and demolished part of the building for expansion.

I know I'm not Adam, but many reasons, economy is one yes, and my own .02c strings some blame on the centralization of the disney amenities with their competitive price packages for an all inclusive stay. You stay on property with transportation only remaining on the disney grounds, so very few reasons for tourist to go explore I-drive or 192, like they did back in the 90's. Locals did explore these tourist traps, but only once in a blue moon, nothing compared to the way the tourist would visit.

The truth still hasn't come out on this. On one hand, Dolly says they got a deal too good to pass up. Then she says it had nothing to do with interest at the Outlet Mall. The show was always packed. So why didn't she go back into the same building if it's a great location, and the deal fell through? I'll tell you why. The city of Orlando ruined it. Something happened, otherwise, they could re-start the show. Dolly wants nothing to do with Orlando.

OMG That street was Awesome even at the beginning of 2000-2004.. Still FUN(similar to the Strip -las Vegas) Now looks like the toursts are somewhere else.The the parks still Full of people.so where are all those Families ?that used to hangout at Dixie's-Believe it or not, Wonderworks,Spendid china,Golf places & Intl dr???
