This is from September 30, 1992, when I sang with the Christ Church Choir, and we performed on the CMA Awards with Dolly. I'm the girl with the big, blonde hair, front row & center! :)

Dolly doesn't usually lip sync...she was sick this night and didn't want to put on a less-than great performance, so she went into the studio and cut it so she could start & stop as she needed to. Still turned out well!

rcfanaticdublin Al green and Annie lenix both suck. I have seen a comment that Jackie de shannon has a version of this as well. I only heard of her for the first time a few years back when I pulled up her shitty version of a song I had always thought was originally talented Pam Tillis song and Jackie de shannon sucks as well. Never heard de shannon al or Annie's versions. I know what all their voices sound like from other stuff. They are ALL COMPLETELY ABSOLUTELY garbage. This is the ONLY version worth listening to

@dollylove4613 жыл бұрын
@herbg3 she lipsynched because she was terribly sick and could barely talk. but since she's the worldclass superstar that she is, the CMA's promoted the hell out of her singing at the end of this show so they insisted she still perform even if it's a pre-recorded version, and Dolly hates letting her fans down so she did it pre-recorded. So yeah, she lipsynched... But it's not a bad thing.

This was a turning point for Dolly, it feels like. The very tail end of her mainstream days as an artist played on country radio. A swan song in a way. It seems like a pinnacle too, of her beauty. After this she seemed a little overboard with the plastic surgery. It’s unfortunate it’s lipsynced and not live, but much of “Slow Dancing With The Moon,” had that same canned, wooden quality. It’s fun to see her marching through the crowd so confidently. After this, mainstream country became something else. It moved on without her. The fact she lasted as long as she did is something of a miracle in and of itself.

@Ginger51516 жыл бұрын
You need to work on your reading comprehension. Nobody is saying that she *can't* sing "by herself" without lip syncing. In *this* instance, she was lip syncing because she had been sick. Somebody asked if she was, and I answered their question honestly. There is no need to try and create a controversy that doesn't exist. 99.9% of the time, Dolly sings live. This video is the .1% that she wasn't able to.
@mthivier14 жыл бұрын
No, as with any year Dolly was on the CMAs, CBS hype the hell out of it beforehand, announcing she would be singing. That's probably why the producers let her pretape her vocals, even though lipsynching is generally not allowed on awards shows, since her performance was expected (and the finale was built around her performance), and if her voice had failed and she couldn't sing, it would have been a big disappointment to everyone who was expecting her.
@MegaSage00714 жыл бұрын
@yeehawmillion I was disappointed to hear she is mouthing the song, but if I was in her position, I would do the same thing; particularly if my throat was threatening to fail me. Anyway, I studied with your tip in mind but didn't see it. How do you explain the rocking out at the end of the song where the same refrain was repeated. "PUT A LITTLE LOVE IN YOUR HEART." The audience is stirred. Just mouthing a song wouldn't stir them. ///
@leftfieldmind12 жыл бұрын
Dolly has been a NOTORIOUS lip sync'er.... this could have been because she was sick but she has done it for years.... she also was one of the first country singers to use her own voice in the system so she could stop singing live and just keep lip singing off an on as she felt like it.... LOVE HER, so don't get me wrong.... i also think this is when she truly looked her best,, her current chin implants are so hard to look at,, i miss this look the most..beautiful
@Mini-Moon14 жыл бұрын
@lovethatwhit which is a polite way of saying I am lyping, rather than.. be acused of it later, I have the video, recorded it and she fell off sync a couple of times, if one is hoarse, why would you push your vocal cords then? Its all Good, i love dolly have and always will no matter what... with respect, Peace
@1jks15 жыл бұрын
Ya she is just said "Well congratulation" with her mouth closed and messed up "I fell a lot of love in this room, ya know love is a wonderful thing".. now I like Dolly and I think her asking to be excused is a way of saying sorry for not singing live to the people that could see it live. This don't mean she can't sing, just that she was lip singing here.
@hoopy111115 жыл бұрын
As much traveling she does is why she wears wigs.. I know her sister and that is what she said. I love them both they are great people.. they are down to earth and have a good heart too. This is one of my favorite songs relting to the world and people and love. Yes, we need to put a little love in our hearts and heal this earth.
@countrycrazy196911 жыл бұрын
I don't know if it's true or not, but I've heard that a lot of the performances on award shows and other live shows (David Letterman, Leno, etc) are lip-synced. There's an old video of Pure Prairie League on the Merv Griffin show and down at the bottom it says that they were lip-syncing the song.
@SonofEmmy213 жыл бұрын
I always found this performance so awkward and embarrassing. Not only is it painfully obvious that she's miming the entire song, but she actually mimes the spoken bit at the beginning. It just looks...off. I heard she was sick that night and it's the reason she chose to lipsynch.
@BlyssfulButterfly3016 жыл бұрын
