One of my favorite things, out of the countless things, that I love about Dolly is no matter how rich (she’s worth $500 million dollars, maybe more now), successful, or famous Dolly has become she never forgot where she came from…. A little one room log cabin in the Smokies with 11 brothers and sisters! She’s just as down home and country, with just a little sparkle, as she can be!

Dolly reminds me of a woman who used an own this little shop next to the cafe my mom worked at. They had like…all kinds of cute things. Handmade wind chimes, fancy stationery, handmade soaps, wooden hand carved puppets etc. I just LOVED this store. One of the items they got in where these fancy pens with gemstones all over them. This woman would walk me over and have me pick one out every time she got in new ones because “everyone needs a fancy lil pen to write with”. She would get new stock in and put together these little samples for me and she said I was her “favorite employee” because I was her tester. She wanted my honest feedback on things. She’d give me bath bombs, or very very often she’d give me incense or bath salts, or something to try. I was what people referred to as a “Tom boy” and she was a very glitzy, fashionable woman like Dolly, but never tried to enforce the girliness on me. She enjoyed camping, and fishing, and would tell me the coolest stories about her and her dad, when she was growing up. People like this make the world so fun.

I have their cookbook, I pre-ordered it. I love it. Its true that the recipes in the cookbook use alot of butter and grease and that the recipes are southern cooking basics I am loving it. The sloppy dogs are my favorite so far. My family loves them and I've made it 3 times now. The chicken and dumplings are great and Im currently making the pumpkin pie.
