Thanks for this visit to Sevierville. I once had the honor of meeting Dolly Parton while working as an extra on the set at the Fox Hills Studio in Los Angeles. Dolly was filming a Christmas Movie that was being directed by Henry Winkler (Fonzie) of Happy Days fame! Dolly would call out my name and say "Hello, Jeff", later in the day as the other small group of extras asked me how did I know Dolly?! I met her chilhood friend, Judy Ogle as well, Dolly smelled so...good that I had to ask her what she wore so that I could buy the same perfume for my wife and Mom as gifts. She told me the names of two perfumes that she blended and I later bought them and presented them as gifts. I truly felt as though I was in the presence of an Angel! And I still think she IS an Angel sent by GOD to show us all how to LOVE one another as HE would have us all to LOVE! Even Henry Winkler projected the same message of unconditional LOVE and respect through his actions with everyone on the set. I will never forget that day!

That was sweet. I would like to see inside but we got a peek kinda. An amazing encouraging story thank you Dream Poet. I just remembered my nephew Chis met Dolly Parton and was so happy I saw the picture on FB. His Mom my sister Sue would have been so happy to have been there but she passed in 2016. She loved music and Dolly too and was a fantastic dancer who floated on the dance floor she was so good!!!!

Also, it's nice that you have left flowers on her parents' gravestone. Ron, at Faces of the Forgotten always does that.

Dolly was born January 19, 1946. not 1944. Just a friendly correction. This is a great video. You said 2046 at the Chestnut box after 1944 at her original house.

Why are their graves outside of the cemetery proper?
@ugh-abby3139 ай бұрын
Larry’s grave was the first in the whole cemetery, Dollys parents, nephew, niece, and brother came a little after. I think they wanted to separate the Parton’s to make it more special, and easier access for Dolly.

A few days ago, I saw a video about the 100 greatest duets, and it said that Dolly became popular as the result of singing in duets, as she wasn't (popular):on her own. She doesn't have a great voice. Too childish. She does however, seem like a very nice person.

Dolly had gynecological issues in early 80's - seemed surgery was involved. She may not have been able to conceive. What you described to what maybe Dolly's future burial site looked like a cremation niche for maybe 12 people. Just guessing there but I bet she does want to be buried with her people
@timothyblack3322 Жыл бұрын
Dolly conceived a child, unfortunately she lost the baby. Unfortunately, Dolly was unable to carry the baby to term, and she was informed she would never be able to have a child. I’m not sure about surgery, but sound probable.
