Dolphin Cove Montego Bay Jamaica

This was one of the places we visited on a 10 day trip to Jamaica I was on with some friends in January of 2009. Dolphin Cove is directly across the road from Dunn`s River Falls which we also visited the same day, and was for me more fun than Dolphin Cove, but I wasn`t able to get video at the falls as we were hiking in the water. Dolphin Cove Ocho Rios: 90+ minute bus ride then an hour wait in line. I paid full price, over $600+ to swim with dolphins with my family of 5. They wouldn’t allow me within 200 yards to stand by and take pictures of my 6 year olds first time with dolphins because I didn’t want to get in the water. I do not recommend this place!

Facilities that promote dolphin swim-with programs suggest that the interactions between humans and dolphins are reciprocal-that dolphins seek out these interactions through their own will and desire. Rather, these dolphins are motivated by food in a severely restricted environment, not by a reciprocal desire to be near us. No matter how we might justify these attractions, whether through a veneer of education, or with the hope of attracting tourist revenue and bolstering the local economy, these programs are self-serving prisons for a species that naturally roams hundreds of miles a day, and should never be forced to seek an encounter with us except on its own terms. These programs are nothing more than our entertainment and amusement, at the dolphins’ expense, no matter where these animals come from, and regardless of the facts put forward by the business.

See Dolphin Project pls.... help us educate and someday with all our help we will stop taking them from the ocean and putting them in swimming pools and dirty penned in areas in the ocean they want to go to!
