I had a polaris in the pool at the new house I bought. That thing used a lot of electricity (booster pump) and it got stuck ALL THE TIME! So happy to have my Dolphin cleaning this pool :)

Hmmmm I have had my Dolphin Premier for a year and a half and I have not had to touch my pool. It is always spotless!! I just had a problem and contacted them last week. They responded immediately, no long phone waits, they talked me through and sent me tech data to run diagnostics. Unfortunately, it just wasn't going to work right. I live in a very difficult place for service and all I can say is they made every effort to make resolution quick and easy. They are now sending me a replacement. Their customer service is second to none that I have ever deal with. All their people are friendly, kind, care about your problems and very quick to get a solution regardless of the problem!!! KUDOS MAYTRONICS

Wow - I have had the Dolphin Premiere for 10 years in Baja MX. Had to replace the power box a few years ago. I have a large pool 53’. This has been excellent unit. You can repair the regular filters with silicone instead of buying new ones. I believe my motor finally gave up the ghost today. Well worth it. I worked this unit like hunting dog. Glad they still make the Premiere because it is Previere!

Great video. I was trying to decide which one to get as my Shark died after about a year and a half. Your video sealed the deal on this unit for me. I was leaning toward it and then you covered everything so well, I did not have any questions left. My wife wrapped the cord too tightly around the arms of the Shark cart and the next year it was a mess. We worked it out slowly by laying the cord out on hot pavement. But you won't have that problem the way you do it. Anyway, good job on this video. It was nice for a change.

Rick, I know you've finished the video but for your personal information, the wind up and (inversely) the unwind of the cable will NOT kink if you do the following. When you extend it onto the lawn, roll it up like pushing a wheel. Unravel it the same way. This is like pulling wire from a spool. If you pull it from the side it will kink. Pull it straight it will not. Same for garden hose, pressure washer hose, etc. I love my cleaner like you love yours. Cheers. Dale

My big deal is a LOT of leaves in my pool every year and hopefully with that bag, I will be able to get those without having to scoop them all out. Super thorough review. I just purchased the premier and will say instructions are sparse. The float position is very absent, as is the fact that the screen needs to be removed when using the cartridges? Been running it a month and left it in, no idea why it needs to be removed though, I go back and forth between bag and cartridges without a problem. I will add that the previous dolphins with baby bags were better at removing algae, but the cartridges are easier.

Thanks for the response! I agree about the 'picture book' instructions. Hopefully they'll improve these. Since I've moved to Florida, I always leave the machine in the pool and only take it out of the water to clean the cartridges. I've been exclusively using the ones that look like air filters. Few leaves so I rarely need to use the bag filter.

Great video Rick! Decided to buy one based on other reviews and your great video. During the part where you are cleaning it out, if those are actually pool chemicals in the filter (not sand or something else), something is wrong. Probably one of the following four things: 1) Ones Pool Water is warn out and the TDS is through the roof and the water refuses to hold anymore dissolved solids IE the dry chemicals you are adding are falling out of solution. 2) One is putting the Premier in the pool to soon after adding chemicals. 3) One is not properly adding chemicals to ones pool. Except where instructed to specifically broadcast chemicals around the perimeter of the pool, chemicals should be individually mixed in a large bucket until completely dissolved then poured into the deep end over an active return (always preparing only one chemical at a time, never dissolve more then one chemical before adding to pool then rinsing the bucket with pool water before dissolving another if no waiting time between chemicals is required). 4) Worst case scenario, all of the above. Again excellent video demonstration, information, and production wise!

I'm definitely guilty of tossing multiple chemicals into a bucket, adding water, mixing it around and then adding it to the pool. Pool would cloud up for a couple days after that. Never realized that the chemicals could completely dissolve in the bucket. Appreciate the time you took to write that all out! :)

Their customer service needs work. Good luck with warranty after waiting for an hour on the phone they tell me to send it in. I ship it on my dime $73 and I get it back still broken. I shipped it back again we’ll see if they fix it this time. Meanwhile my 1 year old machines been out a month so far. I won’t buy any Maytronics equipment again.

I have this cleaner and it's amazing. I have a fiberglass in-ground pool and it cleans up the sides and the waterline. The only place it doesn't clean is the beach area and like you said, the top step. I got the fine filters plus the leaf bag but since I have a pool cage nothing big gets in to my pool so I use the fine filters. I'd recommend this cleaner to anyone.

The 3 selection lights are actually for the run frequency, not the run time. 1 = Daily, 2= Every Other Day and 3= Every three days or twice per week. The selection is good for 1 week and then has to be reset.

Great job! Getting ready to purchase one myself. I was cleaning my pool by hand like you said your home owners did. I saw a used robotic cleaner at a thrift store for $25 bucks. Thought there would be issues with it but if it cleaned my pool just once it would be worth the $25. It cleaned it 2 times and then nothing. What it really did though, was make me want a robotic cleaner really really bad, so i was thinking about the Polaris until I looked up the top pool cleaners for 2015 and this was number 1. I just purchased the Dolphin Premier based a lot on the helpfulness of your review. I would like to point out to others considering this that the 3 LED's have nothing to do with one, two or three hours like you mentioned. They only pertain to the weekly timer and the various options you can select for that. Anytime it runs it always runs a complete cycle that is 2.5 to 3 hours. Thanks for doing this review. It is so much more informative than the online manual or the hardcopy documentation that came with the unit.

Before I bought this I owned and use a Smart Pool Nitro I thought it did a good job, but after breaking down time and again decided to give up on the Nitro. When I received the Dolphin cleaner I was surprised by how heavy it was. But once in the water and it cleans the pool like it was new. This is a great product and I am hoping to have many free years or a good looking pool.
