This is a smartly designed cleaner. Motors out of the water. Robust design that looks like it will last 5 times as long at aiper or betta. And the edge cleaning is so much better than the others. However I'm planning to buy aiper due to father's day sale. I cant miss that

I really am enjoying the Skimmi. Being able to monitor the charging and schedule cleanings is more useful than I expected. I just wish I could plug it in and charge! For me it's not a big deal since I have other skimmers to use during the off season that I can plug in and charge. But most people will only get one skimmer. The Aiper and Betta Plus will be good for those times 👍

Hi David My neighbor and I bought Skimmis about a month ago when they first came into Canada. Generally, I agree with your findings but can add a couple of comments: I don't have a main drain in my pool, and skimmi never gets caught at the skimmmer. It has plenty of power to pull away. Twice now, I caught skimmi trying to clean the pool going backward. I was ready to take it back the first time, but my neighbor said "no problem, just pull the debree tray and put it back in". Sure enough, it worked. My personal feeling is that this is a very good cleaner, but may have been released before all the bugs were worked out.

Thanks for chiming in. So far I really like the Skimmi. My Skimmi doesn't get stuck on the skimmer either but others might have that problem depending on the speed setting of their pump. I agree with you, it has more power than other skimmers as well. No idea why your skimmer would move backwards aside from the normal motion it does but if taking the debris basket out and pushing it back in fixes it then I would assume maybe some sort of debris was stuck in it somewhere? I haven't noticed my Skimmi doing anything abnormal.

Hi, the flap in the basket is not installed correctly. It use gravitation to open and close, you can disassemble it easily and reinstall it correctly.

I didn't even notice it was flipped up in the video. Thank you, I pushed it back down. It seems like the flap flips up every now and then when I pull the basket out. It's a flexible material so I was able to just push it down easily.

Hi David Thanks for a great video. I have a glass/Plastic roof.... Do you think the sun can still charge the battery through the roof? Thanks very much and have a nice day.

Hello, great question! I just did some testing because I literally had no idea the answer to this. The great thing about the Skimmi is that it shows the kw charging in real-time. In direct morning sunlight, it charges at 6.7kw. I placed a clear plastic sheet and a polycarbonate sheet while the Skimmi was in direct sunlight, and it had a noticeable drop in charging, down to 2.3ish kw. So, in short, yes, it will still charge with a plastic/glass roof, but it will decrease the strength of uv rays/sunlight. It means it will take longer to charge overall. This will mostly effect how soon the Skimmi turns on the next day, but if you schedule it to save battery in the night it would work fine still. During the day, even with a cover ontop it should still work well enough to run through the day depending on the time of season. Summer vs Fall, etc. Hope that helps! 😃

@@imdefinitelydavid Hi David Many thanks for the test and the answer. It is very helpful and I am impressed with your answer and your tests. I will immediately order one - here in Denmark we have no Baby Alligators :) Thanks again Davis and nice weekend. Michael

although we have a Betta, it gets beached on our zero-depth entry. we have a dolphin vac robot that has tech to prevent that issue, so hoping the same tech is in place for the skimmi. any idea if the infra-red sensors will prevent beaching? I see it works on your tanning ledge, but unsure how that translates to 0-depth

There are some features on the Skimmi that I haven't seen elsewhere that I think are designed for these sorts of situations. It has distance to edge settings and natural and pool settings that help it with infinity edge pools. I would think it would do the same for a zero depth edge, especially with the bottom and top sensors working together.

“Baby Aligator” haha. Are you in Florida? I bought this Skimmi, will arrive this Friday. Hope I will like it.
@imdefinitelydavid3 ай бұрын
Lol no not in Florida. But I've had some pretty random bugs/animals in my pool skimmers. Spiders, frogs, birds, lizards(baby alligator 😃), and even a snake. The Skimmi has been pretty awesome for me so far. I switched over from the Aiper Surfer and it's been working really well. I just wish it had a second charging option.

Hey David, could you also review the Beatbot iskim Ultra, and where can I buy this Dolphin skimmi? I don’t see it for sale from Amazon. Thanks.
@imdefinitelydavid3 ай бұрын
I will be! I just have to wait for it to be released. They asked if I wanted to be part of the testing/sponsored phase and I declined. I know it will be the most expensive skimmer ever so I wanted to do a fully unsponsored unbiased review on it.

Talk about the price…have you seen the price of the new Beatbot Skimmer 😮
@imdefinitelydavid3 ай бұрын
Yeah... I'm also buying that and reviewing it too lol. It's most likely the most advanced pool skimmer on the market. And it has a ton of features. It's the same concept as the Aquasense Pro. The all-in-one concept but for a skimmer, hence the price. Does anyone really need it? Most likely not. It'll be fun trying it out though I'm sure!
