The one that blew my mind was when I was at Red River in 2021. He caught the ball at the one yard line, took a step, and the ball wound up in the Texas endzone. I think officially it was an 85 yard punt.

I watched most every game during the season. I was wondering why the difference in the amount of yards and the overall punting since he was amazing last year and the years before (still excellent this year, but just... off). Didn't realize the ball was that terrible ball for kicking. Makes sense. Then seeing him punt in the Shrine Game where balls are to NFL standards (and his punting on his channel) and it's a huge difference. Thanks for this, really explained a lot for me. Can't wait to see him in the pros... Lord willing for a team closer to me, but I can't control that!

First saw Michael Turk punt while he was at ASU. They played Utah in SLC in '19 and was absolutely blown away by the ASU punter, Michael Turk. His ability to create a long field for the Utah offense really kept this game from getting out of hand. This guy is the real deal.

...AND I thought that I knew a lot about punting a football. LOL LOL!!! In all honesty, Michael Turk will no doubt make an NFL team if given the opportunity. The Miami Dolphins may have found themselves a Pro Bowl level punter in the Free Agency market. Wish the guy the best of luck, I think he's going to be a star in the NFL.

I agree that Turk is a “Dude” as a punter, and would be surprised if he doesn’t have a long NFL career. Beyond that, and even more importantly, he is an extremely high character guy that anybody should want to have in their organization.

Football is finally catching up to those who played soccer and football (as kickers/punters) and were told they were punting “wrong” 20 years ago. Football is often slow to adapt on special teams.

In hindsight, it was the touchbacks that the NFL didn’t like. Turk can punt super far but pinning inside the 20, inside the 10 is what they want, not touchbacks.

You my man should give a clinic on how to actually put out an informative video. i do have a question i was disappointed Turk wasnt drafted and turk obviously was crushed even though he would never say so. My question is since he is a game changer and such an incredible punter why did Turk go undrafted i know Miami picked him up but can you explain why he went undrafted . thank you for your time and like i said what a great Vid. It's really hard to say honestly. I think it comes down to the rams, they picked up a kick off guy because they knew they were going after Dunn in free agency. I don't believe Turk kicks off and I think the two cold weather teams just have learned at this point to only draft cold weather guys.

It's not that hard to answer. Turk is a great guy. He has a huge leg and can blast punts and hang them up there. His problem is that he out kicks his coverage from time to time. Which an NFL returner will touch your team if you do that. He doesn't have the best ball control which leads to more touch backs and is inconsistent with his mid range directional punts. Placement and consistency is more important to NFL teams than distance. Then like Isaac said he doesn't kick off. I think he only held the 1 year and he has mostly played in good weather. Big difference punting in cold windy weather. His high drop point would be trouble in the windy northeast.
