I'm so glad I found your videos, learning Triads has opened up a whole new world for my learning. I'm progressing much faster, I've learned more of the fretboard in a shorter time than I was prior to learning and practicing triads. I definitely get what you meant when you said learning these chord tones on the fretboard 'til it's automatic is powerful. I'm totally focusing on Triads now. I don't see how you couldn't just play along with anyone once you've mastered triad chord tones. Thanks. Eric

Great lesson. I've been working on chord tone soloing, and this is some of the best, most practical advice I've seen on how to practice it. Nice job!

Would help if this lesson was adjusted as an exercise with a musical context, practicing exercises without musical context isn't as effective to a beginner... Without understanding its application, it just get's shelved in the brain as an exercise and will never be "recalled" in an improvisation. So instead of just "arpeggios all over the neck in G", have an exercise that moves someone through a 1 4 5 progression in 12 bars using arpeggios that address each chord, then have the exercise applied over a backing track. Practicing an exercise never stores it in your brain to be used musically... but practicing it in an applied musical form WILL help a player access it during an improvisation. I've seen too many players that can blast through an arpeggio all over the fretboard at incredible speed and precision, but with no ability to use it when in a musical situation, playing with other musicians, or even composing on their own.

So brilliant! I would like to follow Robert's instruction. Just need to start! Trying to learn songs, and that gets in the way of a methodical learning for chord tones.

Hey Robert. I notice you are using the EX SS in nearly all of your lessons at the moment. I love the tones you’re getting - have you done a review and if not would you be so kind? Cheers

Hi :) I have proposition :> could You make video/videos about Harmonic Major cdefg a-flat b and his modes? You could tell something about diatonic chords possibilities and limitations offered by this set of sound in improvisation a few exercises etc what You say?

Its basically the caged system
@jazznotes38023 жыл бұрын
Actually these are the “three major triad sweep arpeggio inversions”coming from the “3NPS System,” to be more precise. The CAGED System’s arpeggios have those horrible 5 shape fingering, that are much less effective in real world usage.
@dragtr0n3 жыл бұрын
@@jazznotes3802 both are not effective
@jazznotes38023 жыл бұрын
@@dragtr0n Knowing all your "6 string sweep Arpeggio inversions" is both easy to learn and very effective. Only 3 shapes to learn for triads, and 4 for all your seventh inversions. These very same shapes also give you all your triads and seventh chords inversions. Really cuts down the memorization and learning curve. It's become some sort of a "lost knowledge" since the CAGED System's popularity. I swear CAGED was created by music schools to stump guitarists growth. Keep paying for years of tuition fees. Pretending each mode has it's own unrelated CAGED Shape/Pattern. 3NPS System, It's same seven Patterns for ALL the Modes, along with the 6 & 5 String Sweep Arpeggio inversions. Is practically all you need for soloing and Chords. Life become so much easier for me since abandoning the CAGED System and using the 3NPS System instead.
