The Golden Era of basketball to me was that early to mid 2010s Run, When teams just played to their Identities. You had Ball/people movement teams like Spurs, Iso slow grind teams like Celts/Lakers/Grit n grind Grizzlies, Defense Running and incredible play making like The Heat and OKC, Tempo teams like Clips/Early Warriors. Teams weren't slow af Iso ball like the 90s/2000s and teams weren't just jacking up 3s all game like now. Like man the Celtics are so good Jrue White Brown Tatum Kristaps Horford but OMG its just a 3pt analytics contest every game for them.

Same thing with Ben Wallace. This generation of young fans are spoiled in a sense to be able to see their favorite players from childhood play so late into their careers at a high level. My hot take? Mainstream media will never acknowledge Giannis, Joker and Luka as the next face of the league. They're more hyped on Ja, Ant, SGA or even Embi (who recently became American). These players checks 1 of the 2 qualifications to be the next face of the league. American ✅ Black ✅
@a.e.a.
@a.e.a. 23 күн бұрын
This has nothing to do with race but rather with watchability and market size. You’re right about the American aspect tho. An ordinary NBA-fan who only watches highlights and important games will always prefer insanely athletic or flashy players over fundamentally sound ones who score in the post or on the FT line. Also it is easier to market American guys to a American audience.

Also 22 and started watching nba in 2011 so I got to see the tail end of the 2000s era players pass the torch a new era. Kobe, Timmy, Kg, Pierce, Dirk. Seeing the stars they passed the torch to starting to reach the tail ends of their careers definitely feels heartbreaking

@@danny9732 yea but I think their passing of the torch was kinda passive yk Father Time made those guys pass the torch but the guys that are passing it today are still competent basketball players you know I honestly didn’t expect Lebron and Durant to both get beat down like they did curry not even making the playoffs it’s wild honestly

Was never a GSW bandwagon fan, but I appreciated how that team re-energized the league and brought something we hadn't seen before. That last regular season game between OKC and GSW in the 2015-2016 regular season is a good memory of just how exciting NBA basketball can be. 10 years from now Curry might be considered the face of that era.

Joel is only 30. I think he needs to embrace the 2013-14 Duncan role if he wants to play long. Don’t go for 35 every night during the season, save it for the Playoffs. Let Maxey slowly take the reigns.
