Nathan Morgan I think it's not really about whether it's absolutely necessary it be said, but rather whether you really feel the need to say it, or think the other person really needs to hear it. I personally think about it every time I think of posting a comment online, for example, and most of the time opt to just not post because I realize I don't really care enough about my comment nor whether people will see it, so there's really no point in posting it. I'd say, you have to tick off 2 of the 3 doors 🤔 a few examples - a friend is sad and you want to comfort them -> kind+necessary - you go shopping with a friend and the try on something that makes them look... bad -> true+necessary - a friend has a new haircut and you compliment them -> true+nice Because honestly I'd rather have someone say the truth to me, even if it isn't nice. Otherwise the conversation partner might be unnecessarily offended, thus just taking it as an insult and even if it is meant to be of that kind, you want to support even without kind words. Also most advises from strangers are most likely to be disregarded (what makes sense). And by removing the kind door you still need to find the right time, way to express it, etc. because even if you are right, if you are just seemingly out of bad intentions, then little does it help.
